As a new member let me say hello and praise all on this site for caring about politics & caring about the future of our country. I was a lifetime democrat for most of my life & even supported Obama as president the first time around as I was disillusioned with Bush. I got my news from MSNBC & hated conservatives & republicans. I heard all these attacks on some guy on Fox named Glenn Beck & over time got to really dislike the man. In my travels from day to day I would talk to friends & neighbors about politics & I would ask them their opinions on Beck. They all confirmed that he was a wacko trying to destroy the country. I was glad to hear how my thoughts of the man were confirmed, and then one day I decided to watch his show on Fox. I saw nothing that day which supported all the negative things I heard from many in the media, so I figured I probably caught him on a good day. So, in my desire to see this fool confirm my opinion, I watched him the next day & once again I was disappointed. This went on for days, then weeks, then months.

And then it finally happened. I realized that throughout my life I have been lied to and manipulated by the media. This was a man who really cared about people & our country in a most gracious way, & yet was being attacked by MSNBC, CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, The N.Y. Times, The Washington Post, The L.A. Times, etc., etc. Why? I took it upon myself to talk to as many people as possible about politics & their views & found out that none of the people who agreed with me that Glenn was a "dick" had ever listened to him. Trying to be as opened minded as possible I questioned everybody I could to ask about their political views & why they believed in their party of choice.

I rejoiced with each person that declared their democratic alliegance, however just about every time I asked them why, it seemed every democrat would say exactly what the latest talking points were being fed to them from the liberal media. When I asked how they knew that the things they were saying were true, almost always the response was, "I heard it on the News". Much to my surprise when I asked my Republican friends to back up their opinion, they came up with so many things which I had never heard before. My first response was how these "righties" were lieing & making things up-after all I never heard "that".

Then one day I decided that, the only thing I really wanted was the absolute best for my country & to promote how the democrat party respects & follows the greatest document ever written by man, The Constitution of the United States.

And along came the epiphany. Ever since the assasination of JFK I have been manipulated by the media & it has gotten worse & worse over time. Today, it is absolutely DISGUSTING how all the news outlets, except for Fox News dumb down the public & refuse to report so many news worthy things because it might hurt the liberal, progressive agenda. I have found that the people who really love this country & desire freedom, while being so less hateful & bellicose are the Conservatives & not necessarily the Republicans who are becoming nothing more than democrats in disguise.

Bottom line, unless you try to be fair & watch Fox News along with any of the other stations that you may like & do just a little homework as to what you are fed, you will never know what you don't know, & you will continue to be the pawn that our politicians want you to be. If you want what's best for our country, please do a little homework & question what you are told.

Wow!

Welcome aboard and thank you for your presentation!

Be aware that there will be several on this site who will attack you for the view you have presented.

I have been praying for someone just like you and hope you push others to see the light.

Skott

You did notice, of course, that he watches several news programs in an effort sort out what fact and what is bullshit.

You are reading selectively, so let me try & make myself CRYSTAL CLEAR! I never said I take Fox News as my source of information. You are doing exactly what I am trying to help you with. The reason I mentioned Fox & why I believe people need to include it as a news source is because they report things which the other media outlets don't tell you-are you capable of understanding that. I flip back to all the media stations to see who is saying what. I think it so childish to hear people say they would never watch Fox News & when I ask them "why", their response is almost always due to believeing the bad mouthing of other news outlets. If you watch the news for affirmation rather than information, unfortunately your loyalty is in the wrong place.

Fox gives a different perspective & any intelligent person will tell you that the more perspectives you see, the better when it comes to taking a stand. Those who get all their news from one resource, whichever one it is, is being conned & lack the self worth to think for themselves!

Thank you Snoopy, & do not worry, as I said I used to be a democrat liberal & I welcome any & all of those who have a different viewpoint respectfully. And if I receive responses filled with hate, I will put those neanderthals in there place. Again, thanks for your support & for caring about our great country!

I too had heard terrible things about Beck. A little over a year ago I lived in Lebanon Ohio and a city close to us Wilmington had fallen on tough times. The biggest employer in that area had left and even the food bank was all most out of food for the very needy. Beck and his crew on their own dime came to that town and literally saved it. They filled the food banks and brought in huge crowds. He is a very selfless man and degrading him because of perceived notions is very wrong. Welcome aboard. Enjoy your stay!

If you want to watch Fox News and actually enjoy yourself, just tune in the Daily Show with Jon Stewart or else the Colbert Report. Their writers watch Fox so you don't have to. Watching Fox directly? It's great if you are the type of person who enjoys watching sausage being made.

For those who don't know it, Fox News is just the propaganda arm of the GOP. It is run by a former Nixon operative Roger Aisles...and it looks like it too.

I love Comedy Central. I also love SNL, as well as Bill Maher. Satire and ridicule have their place when it comes to knocking down conservative blow-hards quite a few pegs. They are a good adjunct to the NY Times, BBC, Guardian, CBC, CBS, MSNBC, Common Dreams and Democracy Now.
