It is interesting that you don’t explain why they want to shut it down. Line five runs under the Straights of Mackinaw where Lake Michigan and Lake Huron meet it is approaching 70 years old in some areas it has been dislodged from its supports by repeated anchor strikes. The company that owns it is responsible for the largest fresh water oil spill in US history along the Kalamazoo River a few years ago. A mess that still hasn’t been completely cleaned up. A oil spill in the straights would cause environmental damage that would make the recent spill from the pipeline in California look like nothing. Nearly ten million Americans draw their drinking water from this source. The weather and currents here would hamper any clean up efforts making it nearly impossible especially in the winter. This thing is a ticking time bomb that should have been shut down years ago.
