Pretty astounding that no one on either side of this debate managed to post a link to anything.

Just looked it up to make sure. Again the republicans voted no to our Vets. Back in February a bill was proposed to expand Veterans benefits. Voted down by every republican as too expensive. Some of the issues addressed. Remember when the republican Tea party darlings shut down the government. We'll the bill would allow vets to keep there benefits when the republican shut the government down again. Also like back in 2004 the bill proposed 27 new clinics and medical facilities for a long time solution to take care of these vets of the phony Iraq war and Afgan. Also to have facilities for the future wars that the republicans will dream up. Also to provide tuition assistance. But the republican/ Tea Party loves wars but no help to Vets. Could not believe it when I read this bill. Anyone want to bet that Fox did not report that.

The liberals think the answer to every problem is to throw more money at it. The GOP has submitted about a dozen VA bills that Reid will not even bring up for a vote. There are also over 1000 vacant VA job positions that Obama and his administration have not filled. Of course thgey will not see that on MSNBC or read it in the Huffington Post.

They have expanded the va budget over and over again everyone wants to put blame on republicans well didn't the democrats own both parties for four years!they managed during that time to target conservatives give guns to the cartel lie to the American people and congress all the while trying to put our heroes in prison for lying about steroids oh and let's not forget they managed to pass the ACA too!imagine that some didn't even read it!

There is never a time where one party "owns" the other. Yes, there were four years where Democrats are said to have controlled both chambers in Congress, but the margin in the house was very narrow, not enough to make the Republicans ineffective.

Also, the ACA took a number of years to pass, during which time there was a LOT of going back and forth between the Democrats and the Republicans. I can't imagine I was the only one reading the millions of words reported on it's progress and it's shaping over a long drawn out battle. Kaiser Permanente had a site for describing the options being argued on the floor and how each of them could effect us. There was a TON of discussion and speculation and rewrites. There was absolutely no excuse for ignorance. In the end, the final bill that passed through (H.R. 3590) was actually drawn up in the House and introduced in September of 2009 and the House passed it two months later. So to say the ACA was snuck into the House in the middle of the night and pushed through a vote without giving Republicans a chance to even read it is about as asinine as it gets.

That particular lie was based on how the Republicans passed the PATRIOT ACT under the guise of a war time emergency where Congress actually WAS called in the middle of the night to vote on something that most representatives didn't even get a chance to study. The Republicans remembered the outrage that caused among liberals and thought it would be a good way to re-write the history of the ACA, and create a similar effect among conservatives. They knew they could depend on the political ignorance of their voters to NOT put two and two together and to instead spread the fire of outrage over the lie as if it were the solemn truth.

But all anyone has to do is look at the voting records, right? Right... But this is the most amazing thing about how effective lying can be in politics especially when politicians know how much their voters WANT the lie to be true. You can bet that most people won't take the time to look up the voting records and that when people do look them up and report the discrepancies, those that WANT the lie to be true will cover their ears and go LA, LA, LA, LA, LA.... simply because it doesn't suit their prejudice against liberals.

With the upcoming National and local elections pending/upcoming::::: VETERANS , and I am proud to say I am one from WWII, regardless of your "current" political party, remember that the politicians have totally forgotten U. S.'s veterans after WWII!!!!!!! We were somewhat "recognized" after WWII; totally forgotten after Vietnam; and, so far, veterans have received, from the Government, very little "recognition" and "support" since Afghanistan and Iraq! In fact, at the loss of U. S. human life, the taxpayers' input and the U. S. was never attacked (i.e.: WWII), the U. S. has unnecessarily become involved in these "wars" without any favorable results to anyone - except making the politicians and others, happy and/or rich! As in WWII, I always thought that it took a "National" vote to go to war----not the "whim" of the politician's in Washington who, allegedly, are "speaking" for their constituents (sometimes without their support)! Isn't it about time ALL "legal" voters start seriously thinking about the upcoming elections and, in particular, the candidates, their qualifications, anticipated "program" and the U.S.'s future for improvement and to make a better U.S.A. for its legitimate U. S. citizens!

"IF" they voted NO, it was because the Liberals refuse to allow any reduction some where else in the budget to take care of it. They have done this many times. If the Dems refuse to allow cuts in the budget, the republicans will not buy anything new. So, go talk to the liberals and ask them the chop off something so they can get the vets where they belong.
Also remember, that we have the same problems in the private sector. The military problems are not new. Doctors quitting, hospitals going broke, and private sector people waiting to get into a specialist or even a family doctor who are getting few and far between.
this is an Obamacare created problem for all , to just military. Many in the private sector die while waiting for care also. Look it up.

2 unfuunded wars and the obvious increased cost of care for our vets as a result, cut all subsidies to big oil, the only entities who benifited from the Iraq Wars and put every nickel into Vetrans programs. I don't know where you are but around me the Doctors are making a fortune and the big hospitals are merging on top of a mountain of money.

Your are right. However it's my opinion that the back and forth was proving.the fact that in America we have the best politicians money can buy. I know that was true with Mary Land rue of La. She held out the longest. Then later on after she got the money in her possession she said "if I had it all to do over again I'd vote the same way.
Now she's up for reelection. She wants to fix it or repeal it. Sad. The treasonous acts of these scumbags.

This is typical, Democrats create a bill with so much luggage, it can get through a group that actually thinks about consequences and then blames Republicans for rejecting the good parts and if the Republicans actually pass it, they blame the Republicans for the bad parts. I just wish Democrats could create a bill without inserting poison pills in them.

You went through the trouble of " looking up" criteria to use in that post, while all along you ignore any ability to think for yourself. I don't have to "look up", information that I am readily capable of deciphering for myself. What you read, were the words of someone whose interests were to indoctrinate you into their negative assessment of the topic at hand so that you would agree to the target of blame. You further indict yourself into serfdom by assuming that I am a Fox News enthusiast. So when you ask why you are being insulted, understand that it is the imbecility of your post that initiated the first volley of insult.

So let me clarify for you the veracity of the subject of the plight of our veterans in regard to the current dilemma. It is not the fault of any ONE party or any direct act nor is it the malfeasance perpetrated by any specific individual.

The key word for you to " look up " is, " bureaucracy ". That is what the veterans administration is. You will find that the term " bureaucracy " is an absolute equivalent to the term, " inefficiency ".

When you can fathom this concept, you will no longer be the object of insult.

tdsrnest-republicans are desperately trying to keep this country afloat fiscally while democrats continue the normal borrow, print and spend that has us in a hole so deep that recovery will be difficult. As a military retirees
we were promised many things that we are not getting because the government cannot fund everything . Veterans health care should be a priority but all other programs need to be prioritized like everything else. For you to go dig up one bill on Veteran's benefits without identifying exactly what benefits they were seeking is disingenuous at best. Do you understand what BROKE means ? Should the government take away a family's welfare check so that a veteran can get educational support ? We do not have any money in our treasury. The government spends 200million every hour of every day including weekends and holidays and it is all funny money (printed or borrowed). The VA has been lax but they are overwhelmed and chose the wrong path to get out from under the burden. They should have been honest and reported things as they are instead of vying for bonuses. In all of Congress, only one republican has ever submitted a budget that would balance in 10years (Paul Ryan) . He was roundly chastised by the democrats for being too mean and insensitive. That is the kind of crap that people who want to do right thing get from the big spenders of other people's money. If our budget were balanced and debt paid down there would be more money available for the truly needed programs like veteran health. The democrats, however, choose to max out the credit card and when the bottom falls out they will be the first to run and hide. Not to worry, even if their government pensions do not arrive they will have millions stashed away so they can survive. Not so for anybody else receiving a government check. You need to wise up and stop this BS of the republicans blocked this or that and be thankful that someone is trying to rein in the uncontrolled spending. Good Luck America !!!

I doubt the accusation will stick. Look, both sides love vets.

The solution is probably to stop bureaucratic bean counting such as time between specialist referral and consult and do something innovative such as determine the top five specialists needed for these long referral waits and get more of them on staff or on a conference website to at least recommend some test, treatment or prescriptions on a same day consult until they can get scheduled. Also, the VA primary care docs need to get more comfortable with doing some specialty care for the most common vet specialty care issues.

Finally, get the GAO to perform productive assessments of the best practices and solutions to problems they discover rather than continually reporting every couple years that the VA wait times are bad.
