I'm the same person as JohnCorrespondent. People read something into "Correspondent" so I shortened it to something more "unassuming".

Is that supposed to be some kind of insult?
Welcome John. This can be fun and very exasperating at times. You'll soon figure out the reasonable people and the obnoxious trolls.

No......Goober is a highly intelligent auto mechanic who can completely disassemble a vehicle and reassemble it inside of the house.
So again.....what the hell is your story......... Goober ?

In general usage a goober is one of those yellowish hard things obtained when picking ones nose. Usually found under the picking fingernail similar to booger.

Forget that. Call yourself "Goober" and go to "hell".

Yeah, I think you're right that sometimes it means that, I heard that somewhere too. Where I'm from, it was spoken as an insulting form of direct address to a person. Which is probably its connotation here too.

A "goober" is a piece of dirt or a little bit of a dried piece of drywall taping compound that ends up on drywall during the taping and finishing process. When it gets in the taper's mud pan and ends up on the drywall knife and gets dragged across the joint being finished and leaves a groove, it becomes a "hitchhiker". I thought I'd clear that up. You're welcome. 🇺🇸

You are correct. Goober is another name for peanuts. We had a neighbor who called his daughter 'Goober'
