That's funny that can burn Flags bow down to at ball games to our National anthem and the flag publicly disgrace the flag and America and that's okay no one's ever been arrested for it that I know of especially if you're foreign or just a no-good anarchist . That's not really fair. It wasn't the soldiers who ran, it was the Nixon administration. Some background: In 1968, Nixon persuaded the South Vietnamese government not to participate in peace talks with the North Vietnamese, promising them they'd get a better deal if he was elected. He maintained he had a "secret plan" to end the conflict. Eventually, as the situation in Vietnam never got any better, he declared victory and got our troops, state department employees, CIA, and whoever else we had over there out as quickly as possible. I'm old enough to remember the images of helicopters overloaded with Americans leaving from the roof of the American embassy as the Vietcong moved in to Saigon. It was a war we should never have gotten involved in (we got in because the French were getting their butts kicked) and should have cut our losses and gotten out of much sooner.
