Lee was also a Confederate and did everything possible to destroy the union of our states. And just as Germany made no statues to Hitler and the rest of Nazi Germany the United States of America has no business creating statues to the Confederates and the Confederate States of America who tried like hell to destroy our union including our most precious constitution.

The only question I have is why do you Republicans have such a hard time understanding that? You are Republicans and died trying to preserve our union. Why are you now trying to defend the Confederacy and more importantly why are you trying to preserve statues that memorialize Generals and leaders of that horrific union!!! You are supposed to stand for America not the Confederates who tried to destroy us!!!

You, sir, suffer from the same debilitating syndrome as all your comrades, you look at everything, present of past through the lens of today. We need to be able to see what the reality was in those past times and history try to teach us that. Civilizations evolve and change and we need to see what happened then and why, to understand how we got here from there. You cannot learn from a history you have destroyed and refuse to understand. Your present values are evolved from the past and you must understand why and how.

Some want to go back to the 1600s others to 1950s. Yet they would not want to give up indoor toilets, or the microwave.

I was thinking the same thing. We had indoor toilets in the 50's. I am delighted to have been raised in those days-grade school and into high school-graduated in 1961. Not as many concerns for our safety. And, yeah, we had to work hard, but that kept us off the streets and out of the bars.

I almost went off the road. I saw a kid in suburbia mowing a lawn! White kid too, probably lived there. A rare instance of any kid working today.
I doubt that anyone here will have a chance to see a modern kid do any kind of work.

That's probably why yuppies prefer living in big city condos -- no lawn or garden to maintain, and easy to get on-line and find people who will come over and do everything from change their light bulbs to put a new roll of TP on the spool.

Working these days has become more mental than physical. Technology is the way of the future.

Uhm, you now have to tip for them to change the toilet paper roll.
But we live in a place like that, for most months of the year, and I like being free from that maintenance crap I'd been doing for 70 some years.

Wish I could say that, fast approaching my dotage and all, but living on a sailboat, albeit a pretty luxurious one, requires almost non-stop maintenance to keep her shipshape.

This isn't permanent, though I could probably get used to it.

I'll say, if I had a boat I'd name it "Money Burner".
Friends of mine who own boats talk about them like ex wives. Expensive, but they still want to ride them sometimes.

Decades of the global transylvanian uniparty's=(brussels-crowd, CFR, commitee of 300 and U.N.) actions are what we're witnessing today

My friend bought this one and moved aboard about four years ago, and from what I gather, he paid nearly a quarter mill for her. Spending adds up on maintaining seaworthiness and keeping her shipshape, docking fees, etc, along with work. It seems like every time you look around, you find something else that needs dealing with.

Keeps you alert and in shape, though.

And broke.
My buddy just spent 10 grand filling up his boat with fuel.
