Us guys in our early and mid-70s have lived and experienced the most "interesting times" in American history

This is not true for those in their fifties or sixties or even for those in their late 70s. A unique window of time. I mention "interesting times" as a reference to the apocryphal Chinese curse, "May you live in interesting times." What does it mean? Essentially it means may you live in dangerous and tumultuous times, in chaos and disorder. A little bit like the Southern expression, in a way, "Bless their heart": it appears as gracious or a blessing but is the opposite.

I became a teenager in 1960, making me a native child of that era. What I want to show in this thread is just how interesting those times were. First I must mention I also lived my innocent childhood years in the land of "milk and honey" of American memory. Most everyone today thinks of that time now as "the good old days," America at its shining best, the sacred gem of our way of life. But I was white and I guess part of the upper Middle Class; the memories of that era for all minorities will be quite different. We would both ask the other, "What America were in?"

But that's another topic; I am dealing with the reality I know. What will follow is listing the extraordinary events of 1960 to 2020. Just my thing, watching golf may be more exciting.

The Hippie Culture. The assassination of a president. The assassination of a Civil Rights leader. The assassination of a presidential candidate. (And all three were Democrats.) Landing on the moon. Woodstock. Desegregation, more or less the true end to slavery in this country. I have to add it, Disco. Legalized abortion. Vietnam, a conflict that tore this nation apart, let Trump dodge the draft, and the only war America ever lost (but maybe if Trump had been there...). Watergate. The first resignation of a sitting president. The incredibly revolutionary development of the PC and the internet which totally transformed our culture. 911, and terrorism in general. And Trump, the end of our democratic Republic as we once know it. Sorry this whirlwind tour had to end with such an abrupt Jerk.

Each of our personal life's have been colored by the times we live in.
Of course what is going]on in the day to day present.
Today demands our greatest attention.
Paying attention to the need for making changes to all that is changing around us.

It is on a site like this that we can share how we all can & are adapt to the changes around us.

I say we need to look to things that the future is laying out for us.
This could allow us time to adjust to the future better.
