Actually, CA has 58 counties.
As to your quote, "some small states have counties the size of a little California city, and 100s of counties",
would imply more than 200 counties to be equivalent to "100's" of counties.
One state has more than 200 and that is TX-254.
And 6 states have more than 100. That means 43 states have less than 100 counties.
But the fact still remains that 2 states and 17 counties in CA and 5 counties in NY gave HRC the majority vote.
