I respectfully disagree. Archie is not abrasive. Some may not understand his humor, but he is a very thoughtful person. On the other hand, AF1 consistently engages in name calling and can rarely, if ever, provide sources for his/her/its claims. If anyone should be chide for their comments, it should be AF1. Here is a challenge, engage him/her/it in debate and disagree with their conclusion...see how long it takes them to call you stupid or worse.

Some of the horrible things AF1 and others of that ilk posted to NPP while NPP was coping with the death of his brother were enough for us to consider AF1 a pile of human fecal material, and my opinion has never changed in that respect.

Keep in mind.. I didn't say Archie was abrasive... I said sometimes, he can be abrasive. Then I followed that up with "it's not just you".

Archie and I don't find ourselves on the same topic all that often. And when I do run into him he seems more like the Archie Bunker that Carol Conner played... kicking back with a beer and making wise cracks about people. Maybe like a rounder version of myself, but conservative.

But Carol, who was in real life a total liberal, was portraying the difficulty of a conservative view in a changing world and Meathead... remember him? That tension they played out was a portrayal of the tension between people like our archie and AF1, played by WTF was his name? I dunno, Meathead.

Remember how they got so pissed off at each other? Remember how dumbstruck Meathead got when Archie would get so angry he would say something shitty?

So... That's abrasive. This lovable guy Archie Bunker, for a moment throws out a spray of mean-spirited words. Does it reflect the real person inside? I don't know. I'd like to think not, but... I don't know our archie as a real person. And that's my point... all we know about each other is the words we type.

AFI is real guy too and he can get carried away sometimes, sure. So do I. I know how it happens. We read the frickin' news. And sometimes you just need to to say out loud... WTF? Well, that can be abrasive too. If you read that thread I linked to, you would know how reactive archie can be...

So, you can decide who deserves what by your political views, or you can recognize the fact that the two of them took very different actions. One chose to be honest but confidential and the other chose to violate the sanctity of PM and rampage.
