Why I haven't been posting.
I have been busy doing team training with the family of the disabled child I trained a service dog for. I haven't had time to read let alone respond to any topics. So no I am not mad at anyone nor am I sick.
The child has CP. Since he started working with the dog I trained for him, he is trying harder to stand on his own and needs less support assistance from his mother to walk. He also is making a big effort to contain his acting out in frustration when people can't understand what he is trying to communicate.
I will be traveling back home hopefully by the weekend.

Which breed of dog did you train for the child ?
God Bless you for your service to that child and his family. You are an angel here on Earth.

German Shepherd (GSD). I breed and train GSDs as guide dogs. I am the only private guide dog trainer in AZ and NM combined. I also train service dogs (SDs) both out of the dogs I've bred and other dogs of various breeds. I rarely train a guide dog which isn't a GSD as they are far better suited to the job of guiding the blind than other commonly used breeds.
Here is the dog. She is from my H litter. She is called Maya but her registered name is Nagala's Helga Hufflepuff. The puppies in the H litter were all named for Harry Potter characters.
In late March, if he is ready, I have a guide dog youngster in the advanced stages of training where I where a blindfold, I'll be taking to Florida to do team training with his blind partner. Then I have 2 7 month old pups with puppy raisers I will start their guide training in the fall. And I'll be breeding again in June and select 2 pups to go to puppy raisers at the same time the adolescents return to me. One is matched to a blind man also losing his hearing. The other is not yet matched with anyone.
I only do 2 dogs at a time.
JoyV,
It sounds like you are a decent human being and you care about others. We need more people like you. The Man Upstairs will remember what you have done and it will be recorded.

Thanks. It's a labor of love. I try to find one student who is not low income so I can train the other for a student who is in need but can't afford the cost. Right now the 7 month old which is matched to a partner has a household income below the poverty line. So I need to match the other to someone who can pay the full amount, which is still quite reasonable or I can't afford to train either as my own income is social security. No matter what, I give a 20% discount to veterans.
