The innate problem with well-reasoned, civil, and verifiable arguments

No entertainment or political value.

Ok, the truth: I was so anticipating a great debate over several threads I created concerning "income inequality" that the total--total!--lack of response really disappointed. Several attempts to reengage the community went unanswered. Ow. With all due humility, I thought my threads had been so scathingly brilliant, those who agreed were embarrassed to say more and those who disagreed saw the error of their ways and thus remained mute. Logical conclusion, right? No, hurt pride.

There have not been very many times here where I felt a writer so completely answered a question or defeated an argument so soundly where the thread, once hotly debated, abruptly ended. Not even one last insult or name calling salvo to gain a tiny measure of seeming self-respect. But I have witnessed on numerous occasions here where a devastating post, leveling or obliterating all opposed voices, ended all responsible responses and turned to a name calling fracas. I wish my threads on "income inequality" could have garnered at least that response, lol.

Income inequality, in my opinion, is only voiced by the filthy rich and the freeloading poor looking for everything free.
This falls, like a rock, in the laps of congressmen that see another way to pad their bulging pockets.
It's very simple, why don't the rich reach out and donate their wealth to the freeloaders and quit taxing us that have worked for everything we have to death.
That should about make everything equal.

Try not to take it personally. I have often entered a debate where the " I can outdo your insult " contest was going on, put in some common sense, and been completely ignored. I could have taken the lack of response personally, until I realized what was happening. The people who had taken over the thread were not interested in debate. They were having fun with the schoolyard routines and since I wasn't playing their game, they had no use for me. I say, "fair enough" and move on.

I do believe that some of the filthy rich do donate to the freeloaders (Opps, I mean Senators) . So, that they can tax us to death. Come July 1st, hope you have moved all your dollars into gold & silver. 'Cause filthy rich and the Senators will have moved to China with all their money.

that is the only smart way to handle it. I have done the same thing a number of times. It may not work for others, but it keeps my blood pressure under control.

And this is a bad idea ?

I will not miss them & life will still go on.

For the most part things will not get worse for most of us.

And maybe just maybe things will get better.
