As a well-respected news anchor on TV recently said about a huge lottery jackpot, "You can't play is you don't win." ???

My daughter plays the lottery....she has spreadsheets and track the numbers....She refuses to understand that balls do not have memories. When they change to computer generated winning numbers, then she would have a better chance in spotting a pattern. I might even help her!

I only visit here about once every three weeks or so. And Rumi and Kevyn are two reasons why.
I guess they are frustrated because they keep coming up short when they can't convince the rest of us their lies are the truth.

Probability is a funny thing that most people do not understand well. Even random number generators are random from having a pattern if they are properly coded.

If you flipped a coin 100 times and it came up "tails" every time, most people would say the next flip almost certainly has to be "heads." They don't consider that each flip is independent of what came before and that the actual odds would be a 50% probability that the next flip would be "heads."

When I see people in the casino playing roulette or baccarat and they have their chart keeping track of previous outcomes (They usually are Asian) one thought comes to my mind. That thought is that we have an English word for such people: They are called "losers"

You have a better chance of winning PCH than you have of winning the Super Lotto. And it doesn't cost anything except receiving lots of unwanted mail.

If you don't think that's insulting, then something's wrong with you.

How is observation insulting?

Apparently people get upset when they get treated like they treat you.

Okay.....fair enough, so others have observations about our president, about the world in general, and you....how can you be insulted using your own rule?
