One-and-a-Half Minutes

My name is Alexander, I am a cardiologist. A very important warning for those who wake up at night to use the bathroom.

You must be careful and use the "One-and-a-Half-minute law" which is scientifically proven. By waking up suddenly for one's physiological needs normally, we often hear that someone "was well in good health and died suddenly during the night without reason.

The most likely reason is that when that person woke up to go to the bathroom, he/she got up from bed in a hurry, but the brain needs greater blood flow, for having rested, causing a state of fainting and that is when the stroke happens. It is recommended to learn the "One-and-a-Half-minute law" that can save your life.

When you wake up to go to the bathroom, you must first: Lay for 30 seconds after waking up and then sit up in bed for 30 more seconds lowering your legs quietly and sit like that for another 30 seconds and only then get up to go to the bathroom.

With these steps, the chances are gigantic to survive a sudden stroke, regardless of age..

Prevention is better than healing.

Water effect on the body and the right time to drink:

Drinking water at the correct time maximizes the effectiveness of the human body.

1 glass after waking up, helps activate internal organs.

1 glass 30 minutes before a meal helps digestion.

1 glass before showering helps lower blood pressure.

1 glass before sleeping avoids stroke or heart attack.

Very good information. For me, it takes longer than that to get out of bed. The first minute is "who am I and what am I doing here? (sort of reminds me of the vice president candidate many years ago) The next minute is "Which way is the bathroom?" and the third minute is to actually get there, and the bathroom is just off the bedroom. Then I have to move two mastiffs out of the way (they sleep right by the bed) which takes another two minutes. I am fully awake by then, but it will take a half hour to go back to sleep once I get back in bed, old age is a bitch isn't it, but consider the alternative.

Don,
Since I've had prostate cancer, my warning time for going to the bathroom is measured in seconds, usually 10 to 15. Luckily that only pertains to my waking hours. That's because I'm on CPAP every night for sleep apnea and I haven't had to get up in the middle of the night since 1998 when I started the CPAP. Why, you might ask? It seems that while I'm on the CPAP, I tend to go into REM sleep more often, and when in REM sleep, urine production goes way down, so I dream more and don't have to get up to go to the bathroom. Before that I was getting up at least once every night, but usually twice.

With sleep apnea, your throat collapses when you go to sleep and your muscles relax and you stop breathing. When your brain detects the CO2 buildup in your blood, it wakes you up just long enough to take a loud snoring breath. If you're sleeping with your wife like I was, it will scare the hell out of her. The problem is, you're not awake long enough to remember waking up. When I had my first sleep test, I averaged 57 events per hour, with the longest being 54 seconds. My SAO2 (blood/oxygen) level was down at 75%, it should be 95-96% normally. The constant CO2 levels cause you to wake up with a bad headache in the back of your head. As soon as I started the CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) which is basically just an air stent keeping your airway open, all of the symptoms went away. I wear a mask over my nose that's connected to a hose. The hose is connected to the back of the machine at the water tank which provides humidity so my throat doesn't dry out.

I've also had prostate cancer and had to do kegel exercises to get more control of my urinary process especially at night.
As far as sleep apnea goes, l seem to sleep better and without CPAP in a semi prone position as in my recliner. I'd be interested to know if you've ever tried that and if so your results.

Hi Flash,
Funny, my urologist hasn't mentioned kegel exercises to help me with my control. I'll have to look them up on WebMD, and see if they help me. Quite frankly, I'm sick and tired of wearing Depends. We have a Craftmatic king bed which is split. Actually, it's two twins together so we each have our own controls. I've never tried sleeping like that without my CPAP, in fact, it's time to go for another sleep test. We have one doctor who specializes in sleep disorders in Oklahoma City. He'll probably prescribe a new machine, and I need to change from the full face mask I've been using to a nasal mask that just covers my nose.

I have congestive heart failure so my legs and feet tend to swell, so I keep my feet up at night, I also raise the head, so effectively I'm sleeping in a recliner, although my feet are higher than they would be in a recliner. Sleeping like this keeps my feet from swelling, but I still have to take water pills during the day to help flush the water out of my system. And because that also flushes potassium, I also have to take prescription potassium pills twice a day. It's a never ending cycle.

If you're on BP meds be careful with the potassium intake.(ask your Doctor) The level exercises will help you have control at least while your awake. FYI: I wore diapers for a while (funny I had the strange urge to suck my thumb😂😂😂) I went to pads. Don't always need them now. Just remember to tape them to your shorts or you may lose it down your pants leg while you're in a bad location. Yeah it happened to me at the hardware store. Fortunately nobody was around to see. It was fresh so I stuck it in my pocket. Now I'll tell my friends if I wanna see em laugh.(they don't believe me)

You wouldn't believe how many meds I'm on. I take Quinapril, Propanolol, and Doxazosin for BP. The Propanolol is also for essential tremor, and I take Primadone and Topiramate for that too. Then there's Allopuranol for gout, Simvastatin for high cholesterol, Fenofibrate for high tri-glicerides, Bupropion and Paroxatine for mild depression, Omeprazole for reflux, Byetta, Basaglar, and I used to take Metformin Januvia for Type 2 Diabetes. I quit the Metformin and Januvia with very little effect to my blood sugar. The doc wants to put me on Trulicity instead of the Byetta as the Byetta causes bladder cancer. I take 2 Furosamide a day for water, and 2 Potassium Chloride horse tablets to counter-act the loss of potassium. I also take a multi-vitamin, D3, B12, Glucosamine with Chondroitin for joints, an 81mg aspirin, and I started on Licorice Root about 2 months ago. The Licorice Root is supposed to help get rid of the plaque in your arteries. We'll see. I'm scheduled for my next nuclear heart scan this coming fall. They also ultrasound my jugular veins. They think I had some kind of mini-stroke about 16 years ago. We were at a trade show, and I was just walking along when all of a sudden, my left arm quit working from the shoulder down. I mean it was like dead meat hanging there. So, I hooked my thumb in my pocket and kept looking at stuff and about 45 minutes later it started working again like nothing happened. Then when I went to see the neurologist about my essential tremor, I told him about it and I thought he was going to have a cow!! So I've been getting these vein scans every year ever since. So far they haven't MRIed my head, which is probably a good thing, because they probably wouldn't find anything in it anyway, just empty space.

That's pretty funny about the pad, I think I'll just stick to the Depends and if I get back to where I have more notice about going to the bathroom, I'll switch back to regular underwear. Hopefully, I won't have any accidents when I'm out and about. Right now I'm getting ready to get a new knee or at least see the surgeon about it. Not really looking forward to that. My right knee, both medial and lateral meniscus are torn and there isn't any cartilage left so the bones are just rubbing together. The bad thing is I can hear them rubbing.

With all those pills you take, what do you have for lunch.😳
I had a stroke 5 years ago next month. I couldn't control my right arm and could hardly walk(RT. Leg) but I knew what was going on and got to the hospital. The only thing I have any real problems with is my short term memory
