Oregon has always been an open carry state. When I lived in Chiloquin Oregon I was required to have a loaded and ready firearm in my possession. It was pretty much understood that every person was carrying and it did help keep the peace.

If you lived there you would know about the constant violence the people live with. Most of the guys I went to school with have knife scars or have seen a killing. . I saw my 8th grade school teacher get shot by an Indian kid. Our music teacher was carried out in a straight jacket. One day our school bus had to wait before crossing the Sprague river bridge because they were hauling bodies out of the river. The reason you are required to have a gun in Chiloquin was because the towns cop was ambushed and beaten nearly to death and the State police and sherrifs department would not send in help. The city council came to my house and made me load my gun. I would have gotten a $150 fine if I had not had any bullets.

Amen and Amen unfortunately I live in the backward state of Illinois which will never go in that direction during my lifetime that is.
