Trump is the man, he has branded the things associated with his campaign with the core base group of people he appealed to. Just like the right tries to rebrand what NFL players say they are representing when they kneel for the national anthem, they say they are honoring BLM, the right says they are disrespecting the flag. The way a symbol is perceived is what it is, and MAGA hats and flag apparel have come to be symbols of racism and bigotry because too many people who are racist bigots made a deal about it. Whether Trump agrees or not, he did not divorce himself from the despicable groups that embraced his messages, he owns them forever.

Bars have been asking MAGA hatted patrons to take their hats off for some time, regardless of their political beliefs they would have an interest in preventing fights. My aunt had a bar across from a biker bar in San Mateo. Bikers were coming over to listen to live music and it was causing a lot of fights, she had to keep three bouncers on to try to curb it. She decided to tell bikers that they needed to remove their vests and jackets and hang them up. They had an attitude about it and she'd tell them to leave.

People do not like to be forced to remove the things they identify with, it feels like a violation, I get it. But social recognition to identities is going to send a message about what people in general think about something or a group of people. People are fed up with racism and hatred, and they are going to reject whatever is brought in as identifiers.

My neighbor was wearing a MAGA hat and a really nice flag shirt to a state auction. To him and Trump supporters they thinks it represents patriotism and love of country. People are seeing it differently, it is becoming a symbol of racism and hatred, it symbolizes the divide. James was shocked when he struts his new $90 flag shirt (purchased from a Trump support site) and his MAGA hat. He was laughing telling me about his day. He said he could noticeably see people keeping their distance like they were afraid of him. Someone he knew who is a republican came up to him and told him a lot of people knew what his truck looked like, and it was likely to be vandalized, he told him he was crazy wearing that crap. He was bidding on something and the auctioneer paused and said James is that your fancy F-250 King Ranch out there? He said yeah, the auctioneer said thought so, nice, better move it before it gets towed. He said to hell with this I'm outta here.

No need to make it personal Archie, I'm simply pointing out what I am seeing as observations. I never said a thing about whether I agree with it or not.

This is a social thing that is happening, people will let people know what okay and what's not.

Here's a question for you and it reflects who and what you are...

You are standing in line when a woman starts bad mouthing a hispanic 20 something girl, starts telling her to pack up her things it's time to go home, this is our country now. So inside are your thoughts...
1...thinking yeah, you tell that bitch
2...don't disagree
3...think this is wrong but don't say anything
4...tell her nicely that she needs to stop
5...or tell her in no uncertain terms she needs to STFU, that what she is doing is illegal

So "bully" that I am I will go with 5, I hate mean spirited people, and I have and will do the same thing with men.

And I saw that exact case. A nasty looking hag started paying lip service to a 20 something year old really cute hispanic girl. The girl said "excuse me?" when the hag started telling her to pack her bags. The girl said I was born here, what are you talking about? The girl, who had far better english than our racist, said she graduated from USC. By that time myself and another lady were telling her to shut the hell up, the other lady said she was taking video and was going to call the police if she didn't stop. The lady left her groceries and went off yelling obscenities.

That is an example of society telling people who don't know how to behave what they will not tolerate. A racist is only going to do that so many times before they either keep it to themselves, or get arrested and charged.

We thinks? Your last paragraph just shows your contempt for conservatives that don't agree with you and your fascist, racist and bigotry beliefs.

It's an example of what some Trump supporters identify with, and Trump did nothing to denounce them except for some weak platitudes under pressure....and they wore MAGA hats when hoods would have been what really suits them best.

Whether you want to recognize it or not, wearing a MAGA hat has an association with being a racist bigot.

I know several people who used to wear MAGA hats, they now recognize that it carries an association that they do not identify with so they will no longer wear them. It is what it is, they do not want to be associated with that.

The battlefield provides opportunities for both the hero and the coward.
