Although I have read of this in the past..... I do not think I could endure these things on my flesh. I am afraid of worms.... all worms-like things with exception of snakes, I do not know why. Go figure.

Me too, but I would demand that the maggots be killed before they morphed into flies. I hate flies.

Walnut.... it is hard enough that I would not bite through it! You should see me when I do my gardening.... long sleeves, gloves, goggles, mask, shield..... and still I sequel and run from worms. I have always feared worms.... and they are such benign creatures, no teeth, and they work so hard in the garden. I guess a Liberal would say I am wormaphobic!! Don't let this get out.... they will be protesting my farm and saying I hate worms, which I do not, just because they are brown.

Excellent choice!👍It also makes beautiful gunstocks, and furniture.

My ex wife was the same way. Wouldn't touch a worm to save her life. But her little sister would always go out, and catch night crawlers with me when we were at the cabin in the mountians. That was more fun than fishing!

My thing with gardening was cat poop. I didn't wear a hazmat suit, but did learn to wear gloves after getting a handful of fresh cat scat a couple of times!😂😂

Is it the thought of touching one, or just the sight of them, being all 'wiggly' and such? (Scoleciphobia– Fear of worms.) Of course, there is the possibility that you fear them because they might infest your mortal being (Helminthophobia– Fear of being infested with worms.) Either of those is a bona fide phobia, incurable, of course... Sadly, fear and hate do tend to go hand-in-hand, so you might as well get used to being a 'worm-hater'.

By the way, not all earthworms are brown, some are multicolored and others are dark red or purplish in hue, so at least you're an equal opportunity worm hater!

Larry,

Thank you for putting a term to this... and your comment. I am a bona fide EOW (or equal treatment for all worm) hater...

I can not look at one or touch one. Even the thought of them sends me into accelerated heart rate and releases glucose (fight or flight). Infestation.. oh my, that would send me directly to a doctor and I absolutely do not like visiting them! I was not taught to fear them, both parents had no such fear and could not understand my fear of them. No one, that I know of in the family has a fear or loathing for worms, for that matter I have never met another person with this condition.... and it is not just earth worms. I also have a fear of caterpillars, tomato/potato worms... green, brown, red, pink with dots... no matter. I give all of them plenty of room and will not kill or even think about relocating them. They serve a purpose.... and one day I will be food for them.... but, not yet!

I hope they have not learned to sew little hats and make signs so they can make a protest on my doorstep....

we take in some rehab patients and have seen this used about 10 years ago also an old way to debride smaller wound is take triple antibiotic add regular sugar after you flush wound pack with antibiotic and cover with dressing flush out wound every day and repeat. Not all the sugar dissolves and acts like glass debriding as you move and muscle contract it moves around the sugar cleaning dead tissue away from wound also attracts the bacteria and when it goes for the sugar the antibiotics kills it so also helps with infection. This is poor mans intervention way back. But it still works and cost almost nothing.
