I was ten that year and it was paradise. I never saw "duck and cover" as any more than a game. My only fear was coming home with my report card.

At 15 and living in Bayonne, N.J. which I'm told was a prime target due to it's industry and naval shipping center. I remember the anti aircraft battery set up in the county park with the searchlights constantly scanning the sky and the air raid drills. But for my money there was no greater time to be a kid.
O' those hi school days of yore, living on a dairy and cruising the streets of California.
