A few years ago, the head of Guatemala’s passport division got arrested for selling fake passports to a group of Colombians, according to a government announcement.

All this makes ISIS terrorists operating in Guatemala incredibly alarming. Morales said that his administration has captured “close to 100 persons completely involved with terrorists, with ISIS and we have not only detained them within our territory, but they have been deported to their country of origin.” Several of the terrorists were Syrians caught with fake documents, according to Guatemala’s head of intelligence. At the same event, President Morales also revealed that Guatemalan authorities captured more than 1,000 gangbangers, including members of the MS-13.

And give them basic 1500 calorie per day basic rations. Those who want more can work on appropriate projects to earn perks beyond the basics. Since that’s what law abiding US citizens must do, it seems fair to apply the same principles to those incarcerated.

The ones that would survive are probably not the one you and I wiuld want living next door to our kids.

Going back to a ‘work to get ahead’ mentality means retraining people’s mental attitudes. That’s what we really need prisons to do for us, not just incarcerate people and give them the time and opportunity to become more streetwise. Instill working hard as a newly learned, lifelong habit. If it takes a couple of goes to achieve that, so be it. But let’s not leave people idle in prison to perfect a criminal mentality and learn additional criminal methods from other criminals.

Only a very few coming out of prison actually change their lifesryle. Usually what they learn in prison is how to bet the system and be harder to catch.

God's word days bring a child up in the ways of the lord (honesty, respect, work ethics) and when he grows older he will not depart from his ways. It's the parents responsibility to teach the children right from wrong. As Grandpaw always said "Spare the rod and spoil the child."

Not all those who go to prison are lost forever. There are 2 types. Those who decide they never want to go back to prison, and those who decide this isn't that bad, I can manage . For the first type there does need to be some kind of incentive, not sure if we have found it yet, but if we as a society can keep people from re-offending we should.
