(Reuters) - Retired U.S. Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens said on Thursday that U.S. President Donald Trump's Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh does not belong on the high court, the Palm Beach Post reported.
Speaking to an audience of retirees in Boca Raton, Florida, Stevens, 98, said Kavanaugh’s performance during a recent Senate confirmation hearing suggested he lacks the temperament for the job.
Stevens, a lifelong Republican, praised Kavanaugh and one of his rulings on a political contribution case in the 2014 book “Six Amendments: How and Why We Should Change the Constitution.”
"At that time, I thought (Kavanaugh) had the qualifications for the Supreme Court should he be selected,” Stevens said at the event hosted by a Palm Beach Post reporter.
“I’ve changed my views for reasons that have no relationship to his intellectual ability ... I feel his performance in the hearings ultimately changed my mind.”
Commentators, Stevens said, have argued that Kavanaugh’s blistering testimony during a Sept. 27 hearing on sexual misconduct allegations demonstrated a potential for political bias should he serve on the Supreme Court.
Stevens said political leaders and the court have failed to repair the nation’s confidence in the judicial branch’s separation from the president and the legislature.
“I think it’s worse, I regret to say it,” he said.
The U.S. Senate is scheduled to vote on Kavanaugh’s confirmation on Friday. An FBI report to the Senate Judiciary Committee concluded an investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct against Kavanaugh by California psychology professor Christine Blasey Ford and former Yale classmate Deborah Ramirez.

Let's make the same accusations about the other 8 Supreme Court justices and see how they respond. Better yet, let's have the F.B.I. investigate them back to high school and see what comes up.

If Kavanaugh had any self-respect he would withdraw. There were protest crowds all over the country yesterday demanding a "No" vote on him. The National Council of Churches told him to withdraw, and the Jesuit magazine AMERICA withdrew its endorsement.

It's because he DOES have "self respect" that he is fighting back against these allegations, wouldn't you??

These sexual allegations don't matter anymore. In 2015 he told students a judge has to be non-partisan, calm, and unemotional. He broke all his own rules, and wrote an op-ed which was all about me, me, me. He's NOT SCOTUS material.

NOW "these sexual allegations don't matter"! Do you even know what you're saying? "These sexual allegations" is what started the whole controversy. They couldn't be proven, so now "temperament" is what matters? Can you say HYPOCRITE? Do you know what it means? Neither you nor I can say whether any judge is "SCOTUS material". You don't even know what "SCOTUS material" is. Like all the rest of the "useful idiots" on the left, you parrot Dem "talking points". There are not 2 judges on the Supreme Court that have the exact same "temperament", however, (according to you) Kavanagh is the only one that is "not SCOTUS material".

Wake up and smell what you're shoveling!

Did no one watch the videos I posted above? Judge Kavanaugh has no use whatsoever for the First and Fourth Amendments to the Constitution. According to Kavanaugh an FBI agent can write his own search warrant without a judges approval and have another agent serve that warrant directing the person being served that they can't tell anyone about it. The agent can seize anything he/she wants including the house the person is in even though it isn't listed on the warrant. There is the violation of the Fourth Amendment and the order to not tell anyone is the violation of the First Amendment. Watch the two videos. It is all right there. In the first video go to the 15:30 and 32:00 marks if you don't want to watch the entire 38 minute video, although, it is a very interesting video. The second video is only a little over 5 minutes.

The tottering old fart has his opinion, I have mine. Judge Kavanaugh DOES belong on the Court and I am confident he
will be. It will be a novel and refreshing thing to have a judge who KNOWS and BELIEVES IN the Contitution......some of
Stevens ideas and decisions led me to wonder if he ever read it.
