What about the little girls right to life and pursuit of happiness?! I wouldn't care if they drag the piece of excrement behind a pickup truck!

A carelessness about the Constitution on "cruel and unusual punishment" out of mind. It is a far, far more difficult thing to do, and more humane and in keeping with the Law of the Land, to protest such a thing--in the face of outrage over such a horrific act and needed just desserts. Who could like someone that could find anything wrong in that state murder of that scum? Seems heartless, despite it protects all citizens of this country.)

I see this as one of the fundamental differences between those two sides—and it tells a far bigger and fundamental story about the two ideologies. It could be broken down to a simple formula: The Right has simple and uncomplicated beliefs, and the Left has complicated and difficult beliefs. This is a somewhat fair appraisal, but it is a bit more complicated.

The fact the Left appears to have grey areas is condemned by the Right. The fact the Right appears to have nothing but Black and White views is condemned by the Left. Take the movie "Open Range" and the series "Lonesome Dove." (Two of the greatest shows ever aired. I have seen both maybe maybe 4 or 5 times.) The Right is thrilled by the Frontier Justice and the Left is conflicted (maybe?). Personally, I would love to relax into the ease of the Right. To be so sure would be such a great relief. To watch those shows with full agreement. I do love their strength of character, courage, determination, seeming everyday decency and honor, loyalty, sacrifice, integrity: to know and possibly be friends with men of such great character would be an honor. Yet all of them disgraced the Law of the Land. Frontier Injustice. Vigilante vengeance. In a similar vein, it appears none of them would be against water-boarding or other extra-legal activity by police to get a conviction for people known to be guilty freed by a technicality: the Constitution not even a second thought.

There seems to be zero question as to this person's guilt. If there was even .1% doubt I would be against killing him. Since he did it, what is the question here ? What do fictional television shows have to do with real life ?

If we are bringing in fiction to a reality based debate, lets at least use something worthy like Clint Eastwood or John Wayne movies.

That Trump will be in prison soon is wishful thinking on your part. I doubt seriously if a man whom history will regard as one of our greatest Presidents will be going anywhere except to another 4 years in the White House. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it!

You have had other threads about capital punishment..Hanging is a good and proper way to terminate humans who are "proven guilty" but I also believe that if a prosecutor and judge condemn a innocent person and it's discovered...hang the judge and prosecutor too.

First, I have the complete collection of Lonesome Dove. In fact this past Saturday night I watched the one with Robert Duval and Tommy Lee Jones again. You can not compare then with now. We live in the county. There are eight houses on my road that is about ten miles long. My nearest neighbor is a half a mile away. If something goes down, a robber, a drunk or a spot lighter I have to deal with it. Even had someone trying to steal my two pigs. I call 911 but it may take the County an hour to get there. My Shotgun and one of my Rifles are in a rack over my bedroom door, the shells are kept separate. Just the way it is. Second, I'm conservative. I do believe that we need Prison Reform. The system is totally jacked up. It was good that the President had a conference with leaders from different factions to find solutions. Maybe its a start. Third, I don't give a dead rats ass that he choked and turned purple. I hope that every time he was gasping for air he was thinking of what that little girl that he raped went through ! I've been through two wars, my worst nightmare is that some monster does this to my baby girl and she is calling for her Papa. No, I have no compassion. I believe that we should have public hangings. Not twenty or thirty years after the crime. But as soon as the guilty verdict is handed down. Maybe when people see that there is a payment for their crime instead of the taxpayer paying for their life till their death, however that maybe. There may be a change.

The turn purple and choking was an unintended consequence. Cruel and unusual punishment in my view must be planned that way to qualify. Hanging also results in choking and turning purple.

I would like to see forced labor brought back. Make them work during their jail sentence, including death row inmates.

A properly trained hangman will break the neck of the condemned...The mostly trusty old electric chair is designed to not only fry but to break the spine with a twist resulting in instantaneous death.

In the bible manslaughter was what Cain was guilty of...and was allowed to live but murderers are to be executed..To rid the evil from society.

I agree! They get education, housing, food, exercise and all health care. They get to watch T.V. They can get married. It is time for them to start earning their way. I live in Leavenworth, Ks. Prisoners here use to have to pick up trash along the highways and mow. Not any more! It was deemed demoralizing.

I may be wrong, but I find the resistance solely on the Right: be tough on crime. Which is ridiculous when keeping men from recidivism, you deny their chance to be a productive citizen again, regain their rights. Counter-productive.

The last I heard there had been 250 men released from prison who had been on death row but DNA proved they were innocent. Think of how many innocent men have been executed for crimes they did not commit before the advent of DNA

What if it was another mistake and he was innocent it happens regularly some juries will acquit if there is a shadow of a doubt other will convict because they don't like the way the defendant looks especially if the jury is white and the defendant is of color
