This will be my last post for the forseeable future.  While I find it challenging and enlightening to hear the opinions of people who stand to the right if me, politically, it isn't necessary--nor do I think it serves any particular purpose--for me to jump into the fray in order to accomplish that  Rest assured I will continue to read with interest posts on this site.

I just want to make a general statement about my personal and political point of view before I go.  The part in quotes is from a letter I wrote on another site in response to some recent actions by the EPA. I think that, combined with the follow-up comment I added, it paints an adequate picture of my values and beliefs.

"I pray every day for Donald Trump, Scott Pruitt, and like-minded people to be freed from their their materialism and the poisonous fears underlying it, and filled with the light of Creation and the love of the Creator.  When that happens, their eyes will open to the beauty and wonder of--among many other things--science, and they will take joy in their own bright connection to everyone ever born, and to every creature, every tree, cloud, and and ocean wave, every breath of air, drop of water, and grain of sand on earth--and outward through the universe.  In the meantime, I will spend a little money and a lot of time and energy supporting efforts to restore and protect the natural resources on which we all depend for both survival and spiritual and spiritual growth."

. . .And other causes that bolster the chances of a future for humanity guided by spiritual principles--like grace, mercy, and peace--that, when practiced, allow each of us and all of us to make the most of our journeys here on Earth.

Materialism feeds the world. Do you think that all of those farmers are just following their spiritual principles?

Not much chance of that, they produce the crops, and critters, that feed the world for PROFIT!

Their "materialism" is their only incentive for doing so, take that away and billions will quickly starve to death.

Without that materialistic motivation, where would you get your cell-phone, your car, your shoes, your clothes....................................

Find a new demon.

You mistake what I mean by materialism. I expect I didn't express myself very well. Of course, we all have material and financial needs, and must do whatever is necessary and honorable to meet them. But some people have far more wealth than most people even dream of, yet they remain obsessed with becoming ever wealthier. They devote most of their time, energy, thought and effort to acquiring more money, possessions, and the kind of power that will secure and add to their material worth, regardless of whatever ill effects their striving may have on others. I pity them, and hope they can come to understand the value of compassion, friendship, joy, meaningful work, sorrow, laughter, and other things that provide peace and happiness for those of us blessed with them.

You must compare yourself to the Trinity, God, the Father, and Holy Ghostor or maybe just the Son. Good riddance to bad rubbish. Farewell, you will not be missed.

The some you are referring to are one tenth of one percent of the populace. The rest of us are scratching to stay alive. It has been thirty years since we could hope to prosper.

So then, you were talking about the really "filthy rich" people like Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, Warren Buffett and Mark Zuckerberg?

You probably have more wealth than most people on Earth dream of.

Perhaps you should worry more about yourself and less about people that you know nothing about.

Noble sentiments. You should send them to the EPA who ruined thousands of square miles of Aquifer on the Mancos River.
Hope to see you return. Opposing viewpoints make OPP interesting.

Happishark is not one of the obnoxious Liberals. There are a handful of Liberals here with whom I can disagree courteously.
