You want me to go into that room with all those kids, correct their disruptive behavior, observe them for signs of abuse, monitor their dress habits, censor their T-shirt messages and instill in them a love for learning.

You want me to check their backpacks for weapons, wage war on drugs and sexually transmitted diseases, and raise their sense of self-esteem and personal pride.

You want me to teach them patriotism and good citizenship, sportsmanship and fair play, and how to register to vote, balance a check book, and apply for a job.

You want me to check their heads for lice, recognize signs of antisocial behavior, and ensure that they all pass their final exams.

You also want me to provide them with an equal education regardless of their handicap and communicate regularly with their parents in English, Arabic or any other language, by letter, telephone, newsletter, and report card

You want me to do all this with a piece of chalk, a blackboard, a bulletin board, a few books, a big smile, and a starting salary that qualifies me for "New Start."

You want me to do all this, and then you tell me......

I CAN'T wear a necklace with a little cross, mention God, or say "Merry Christmas" because someone might take offense? "

Well, you know what you can do with your job........

This should be posted in every school in America and all countries.

Think about it!

If Muslims can pray anywhere, why are Christians banned from praying in public and from erecting religious displays on their holy days?

What happened to our National Day of Prayer?

Muslims are allowed to block off major streets, in all American States and pray in the middle of the street! And it's a monthly ritual!

Tell me, again, whose country is this

Ours or the Muslims?

I was asked to send this on if I agree, or delete if I don't.

It is said that 86% of Americans believe in God. Therefore, I have a very hard time understanding why there is such a problem in having 'God' in our education system or the Lord's Prayer said in our government, schools or public meetings.

I believe it's time we stand up for what we believe!

This is such a lie yet you keep repeating it, I know you'll never get it but at least get over it already.

Is beheading people a religion, or an activity?

You're an angry little fella ain't'cha? ...really eager to play victim too.... Imagine, being told not to wear a cross or to mention God, or to say Merry Christmas... Oh, you already are - LOL!

The 1st amendment gives you the right to do any of those things so stop acting like Billy hit you. You just don't like that the schools are not permitting people to shove YOUR specific brand of religion down everyone's throat. That's what this whole thing has always been about. Evangelists have always tried to use public schools to push for a Christian-dominant culture, sometimes to the point of religious denial (of other religions), which according to the U.S. Constitution, the government is not allowed to support. So when schools comply, evangelists get all pissed off and they start preaching about how the schools are destroying America.

America isn't being destroyed - it's just growing and changing. Maybe the clean, happy days of soda fountains and white privilege are behind us... like plastic army men and Santa Clause.

Is there a specific brand that you would prefer?

I would have thought my last sentence in the post to which you are responding would have given it away.
I grew up in a Christian family, with more focus on basic family values and traditions and not so much attention to scripture and study. But really, it's not a matter of what brand I prefer, archie. It a matter of whether or not I think it's a personal choice or if I am crusading to make the choice for others. I think it's a personal choice. Whatever works for people. As long as you're not hurting people, I'm okay with it.

No one is stopping you from exercise thereof. You're pretending to be a victim of something that isn't happening. The schools are prohibiting the practice, common among Christian Evangelists of trying to dominate the public space which can have the effect of denying other religions and the exercise thereof. Again, they are not prohibiting your exercise thereof.

Rather than forcing or allowing the religious indoctrination of public school children to the sect of whoever sits on the school board, how about providing what that teacher truly needs instead of trusting it to devine intervention. Persecution of Christians in this nation is a silly myth. Everyone is allowed to worship or not worship whatever god they choose. What they can’t and should never be allowed to do is to foist their brand of mysticism or creation myth on others. This is wha you are whining about, nothing more.

Seems like I feel the need to retort this poster about once per week. Our country is based on the M-A-J-O-R-I-T-Y. If 86% of the M-A-J-O-R-I-T-Y want to hear a prayer at a ball game( plus another 10% who don't believe but have no problem with those who do) then why can't the M-A-J-O-R-I-T-Y do so? Or have a morning prayer in school? Because prayer is like smoking...not in any public building...only in designated areas.....better yet, just keep it to yourself.
The M-A-J-O-R-I-T-Y(meaning the largest (biggest) number of people) are restricted from prayer by the M-I-N-O-R-I-T-Y ( the smallest ( itsi bitsi) number pf people). Also, YOU are foisting YOUR belief that those like you should be able to discuss and belittle the beliefs of the M-A-J-O-R-I-T-Y because you believe that you are too smart to believe in God. (Both are a belief system.) The only difference is that one is doomed to fail, and it ain't gonna be mine !!!

Well Well....I see that by rereading my own words, I seem to be harsh. However, if you read my post knowing that I was not angry, then you might see that I was trying to emphasize by slow spelling of the word majority that his statement was basically wrong. Believers ARE the majority and we ARE suppressed in practicing our beliefs by the minority. Our government has failed in that it protects the right of Muslims or any other religion while restricting Christianity (choosing one or many religions over another) and restricting our prayers ( prohibiting us from the practice of a peaceful belief). Notice, I didn't say religion. A true Christian is not religious. We are those who are saved from death to eternal life by the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savor. Christian beliefs, my beliefs, are as valid as those who do not believe, or those who believe in moon gods or cows or whatever.
The original text was a teacher saying I have to do ALL this but I can't say a payer? Kevyn says NO PRAYERS....give her some money. I say let her pray...it guaranteed in our Constitution. It used to be, anyway.

Well the debate falls apart for one simple fact: Christ was a teacher! So you won the argument. Congratulations!

On another valid note, I was researching Plato, Socrates, and Aristotle and found that thier conclusions were made whole when you include the teachings of Christ. Now if you were to eliminate the hostility of the nature of Mohammed in his teachings, the only conclusion is Christ's teaching which brings all religions together. Christ's teachings fulfill the Jewish teachings of the patriarchs, the heros, the judges and prophets of Israel as well as the Greek Philosophers and combines the roots of the orientation into one Christian belief.

Expanding upon that idea, and examining it more closely we come to find that it was inevitable that America would be formed based upon these principles.

By persecuting the persecuted, we get caught up in a Socrates paradox, "I know nothing, that is what I know"

My source for this thesis is the writings of the Greek Philosophers, the City of God by St Augustine as well as the Federalist papers- fromthe writings of John Adams, Thomas Jefferson,. Hamilton and James Madison and Ben Franklin. Other sources include George Washington and James Monroe.

After all this reading the one conclusion that must be made and is self-evident is that the human mind maybe able to separate religion from State in thought, but in practice, religion and state cannot be separated. For in action we are inheritantly religious. And when one opposes religion one is opposing it because they are religious.

Whew that was deep....enjoy.
