No I don't think it's the phones fault I think their parents should be held to some accountability in these cases. If the reason for the cellphone is for emergency use or just for family communications, then buy them a burner phone from 7/11, one without text capability.

Not only that kids are getting killed in the US at the rate of 11 per day while driving and text messaging.
Is it the phones that do the killing?
Should they be banned from having cell phones?

Why are you ignoring the much deadlier cell phone problem? Because the Democrat Party didn't tell you to feign outrage at cell phones?

Love that you asked that... Never saw this subject on OPP..

But in my life I have exchanged information with both my senators, Amy Kolbacher and Al Frankin (now gone to his radio show), my congressman Rick Nolan and all my state level reps..

It is an intense subject for me, as a relative was run into by a phone addict and a family from our tiny town was is a very bad collision due to the same dumb behavior..

All that were injured recovered but luck can not always be depended on..

Yet I found time to bitch about mass killings also.. and on OPP... damn , I must be busy to manage that..

Once more to be clear... I see not good in assault style guns for anyone.. while they are OK for varmint shooting, they are not a good hunting gun, they are not good for home protection..

The do transfer that: damn I am a tough SOB idea to the mind of the young and the immature..

O.K. pafret, you know a lot more about guns than I do. I think that FASTER one pull, one shot practically fits the auto function. I did say that the FBI data base needs to include LUNATICS, not just felons. Where you got the idea that I wanted the FBI to make Laws is beyond me, I simply want the data base to include as many potential killers as possible. How about the gun shows? How about the failure of local Law enforcement to fill in the FBI data base. Other than try to impress everyone with your super gun knowledge, your only valid point was that many of the mass murderers were on the FBI watch list and the FBI did nothing to prevent the mass murders. I asked for comments, guess I should have said "Constructive comments"....
O.K. pafret, you know a lot more about guns than ... (show quote)

You have most of the nation derelict in their duties, you have a politician (i.e. Obama) who believed that the police were arresting blacks needlessly so he pushed a program that rewarded not arresting black kids. The unintended consequence was that the police stopped arresting all kids. The schools also stopped reporting kids who should have been arrested to get their share of the federal handouts so now our schools are full of wackos who are powder kegs waiting to go off. This is not the fault of a gun.

The problem in most of these cases has been the same, government meddling. As soon as politicians decided the populace should be disarmed and started the uproar about gun control we went from a nation where kids owned and used guns in a safe, reasonable manner and did not engage in mass shooting to our current condition. Where are the marches protesting the FBI employees not doing their jobs? How about the locality where the sheriff's deputy cowered outside while his fellow cops set up perimeters -- no march there but lots of time to complain about guns and not one word about getting that moron out of office and jailed for complicity in the deaths.

The Mayor of Baltimore has one third of the schools without heat, there was no money to repair any of those heating systems. But, she came up with one hundred thousand dollars to ship Baltimore Students to Washington to join a gun protest march. This was necessary why?

You want to ask me again for resolutions -- it would take God to come up with one solution to correct all of the stupidity exhibited by our elected leaders. My only solution is that the electorate should be composed only of those who can pass a test, which demonstrates they know the candidates, their positions and the issues. If you can't be bothered to learn any of that you shouldn't be voting because you keep putting the same demagogue idiots in office who have screwed this nation over repeatedly.

It would be discriminatory, it would exclude the stupid, the lazy, and those who vote depending on the shape of the candidates nostril for their preference. Maybe with a more intelligent electorate the buffoons we put in office may become marginally more competent. I would also make it a felony for any police agency to fail to follow up on information that indicates a serious crime is about to be committed.

While we are fixing things it is time to dust off the anti-trust laws, break up the Mainstream Media and also go back to no entity owning more than one media outlet in any given area. Maybe with a few more voices we might get an inkling of the truth about the events which transpire. For instance, why is there dead silence on the Mandalay Bay shooting with all information being suppressed by the police and no investigative reporting?

My remarks anent the nature of guns is not indicative of my superior knowledge of firearms. Any military person knows the difference between full automatic and semi-automatic, even doddering ancients like me who used the semi-automatic M1 Garand as their military weapon. My point was that the use of inaccurate language does not help the problem it raises hackles on the part of those who know better. Their rational response is, if you don't know squat about guns why are you telling me what to do with mine?

Gun shows being places where criminal can get Bradley tanks if they so desire has been debunked repeatedly. Gun show dealers make you comply with every Federal regulation the brick and mortar stores do, The only truth here is that parking lot deals between private parties are not regulated or controlled. Any one with common sense who has registered his firearms is not going to sell to a stranger in the parking lot, his name is still registered as the owner.

The problem ultimately rests with us individually, we accepted the the FBI "dropped the ball". We should be screaming "this was no ball it was the lives of innocent children snuffed out". Where are the letters to the editor, the marches protesting the FBI and DOJ not finding the culprits responsible and putting them on the street?
So I am responding to your call for solutions by asking you, what have you done to rectify these problems? If your answer is that you posted about it here you are the problem.

Mornin perma, can you tell me the difference between an "assault weapon" say a Colt AR 15 & a Ruger mini 14 ? Do you understand the purpose of the 2nd Amendment ? Please explain your last sentence, maybe there's a misprint in there or maybe I'm too dense to grasp your meaning !

Sums it up.
Too many have absolutely no knowledge about firearms or are too young
to have enough experience in life to dictate what should be done or not done with guns.
Derelict in their duties along with stupid policies.

I will point out one more time that we are talking about Assault STYLE weapons...

I do not own a mini 14, have not shot one.. I have an AR 15...

The FBI uses the mini 14... It is supposed to be more reliable and a bit more accurate.. Can not say yea or nay about this..

reliable is seldom an issue other then in the military.. Accuracy... While the emphases seems to be about shots of target these days rather then shooting fly off the butt of a horse with touching the horse..

I would say the issue of accuracy is moot..

I think I did read that the AR 15 got started first and was used by some 3rd world army before the US.. not so sure about it..

The mini looks smaller but much like the British grease gun of WW ll, does the job very well..

I do not think either one or any other of like style should be sold to civilians.. I know that is what you want me to say, so consider it said..

I did a post a bit ago about the 2nd, logic tells me that the object is not quite as I believed for over 70 years but other then matching opinion, can not find solid written confirmation from the founders..

Gee, I must have been still hurting from my use less effort to sheet rock...

I can not say what the heck my writing was about..

But my intent at the time was to say that the appearance of the gun was a factor in many young men buying an assault style gun..

I looks tough.. only a hard and dangerous person would carry one.. Or so the image could be with many who wish to own one..

they want to look tough and the gun style works to that end..

I always thought the British sub machine gun was the Sten and the " Grease gun " or M3 was an American production to supplement the more expensive Thomson sub machine gun.

I do not know modern guns well, but the whole concept of the grease gun has always fascinated me. Make a usable weapon as cheaply as possible and still have it be rugged and reliable. Of course the AK-47 probably is the king of cheap reliable automatic weapons.
