Your right, no machine guns or mortars or other weapons like flame throwers and hand grenades. The AR 15 he had was a look alike not the real thing.

We have a check on guns. It's not being used properly or that guy couldn't have bought a gun.

A citizen should be allowed to buy a gun after a reasonable check and waiting period. It should be easy for the honest citizen.

Well you saw how safe it is not to have a weapon.Just look at Florida and the deputy staying out side the school while shots were going on.
The only reason i could imagine for his actions was he was untrained yellow or both.

Congress has written more bs laws than we know what to do with and they are useless.

Would you be willing to get close enough to ascertain the difference between the real thing and an AR15 if it was pointed at you? I didn't think so!

A thorough background check and a reasonable waiting period should suffice. But then again, the operative word should be thorough. And no outright sales at gun shows, the caveats should still apply!

Therefor, it doesn't matter what kind of gun we have; AR, hunting rifle, hand gun or what ever. I personally don't even think automatic weapons should be banned but that's just me. And don't even ask why one needs it. We are living in a free society and can have mostly what ever we want that is legal. Ya'll cna change the laws, sure, go ahead and try. Most of us conservatives will not support it.

Until the wieners rise up and start taking care of themselves, no matter what weapons are banned, there will be killings like this. You don't disarm the victims. It's like medicine, do no harm.

The kids at Columbine even had bombs. Named them. Knives too.

Did you know that the number one weapon women choose for home protection is the AR-15?? LOL! I once had a class filled with women (it was an A and P class aat a local college) and every single one of them had a semi-automatic hand gun in their purses. Every single one. You wieners will NOT disarm the populous. Period. It will NEVER happen.

So, start working on something sane that makes a bit of sense and doesn't help the next shooter.

Good points! What's an A and p class? I didfnt know hand guns could be semi-auto. Having survived one seriously life-threatening assault once, I could use one for self-protection!

This is what James Madison had to say: “A standing military force, with an overgrown Executive will not long be safe companions to liberty. The means of defence agst. foreign danger, have been always the instruments of tyranny at home. Among the Romans it was a standing maxim to excite a war, whenever a revolt was apprehended. Throughout all Europe, the armies kept up under the pretext of defending, have enslaved the people.”

The fear was that a despot would use the freestanding army to suppress the citizenry as did King George during the revolution.

This is what Patrick Henry had to say: “A standing army we shall have, also, to execute the execrable commands of tyranny; and how are you to punish them? Will you order them to be punished? Who shall obey these orders? Will your mace-bearer be a match for a disciplined regiment?”

This is the reason behind the wording for the second amendment:"A well regulated militia being necessary for the security of a free state." "the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

So, a well regulated militia is necessary for the security of a free state, therefore, the rights of the people to bear arms shall not be infringed. The second amendment means what it says...

By the way, well regulated refers to the command structure of the militia, not the armaments thereof.
