Having states make their own rules for guns is chaos and madness and irresponsible and sick and dangerous and decadent and evil. Federally mandated laws and penalties need to be put in place--fast! We have uncontrollable violence in this country, growing increasingly worse each year. The NRA and other nuts are fine with this ugly feature of American culture. They put themselves and their families and their friends and their churches and their schools at incredible risk by their either adolescent imperative to do as they please and get their way, or a soulless permissiveness to protect their fantasies and desires. Strict controls in this state and loose controls in a neighboring state does absolutely nothing. How can anyone in their right mind not the see the need for Universal gun-control and penalties?
How many school-shootings in January alone? That's okay? Hey, it's just an unfortunate consequence of my obsession with freedom, my 2nd Amendment rights? How many accidental shootings where children are killed? Why not just a national law mandating basic safety measures and consequences for their violation? Twenty-six states do not even care if you know how to shoot or have safety rules for ownership. At least that one concession would save hundreds of lives each year and thousands of injuries. It is stupid not to make this universal. There is no violation of freedom, only a protection for users of that freedom.

You're woefully short on facts..........
How many school-shootings in January alone?......Okay, how many???
How many accidental shootings where children are killed?.......HOW MANY????
Federally mandated laws and penalties need to be put in place--fast!....What laws and
penalties do you propose?????
Why not just a national law mandating basic safety measures and consequences for their violation?......this would be???.....maybe like all the laws mandating safety measures and
consequences for automobiles??....and still more people are killed by cars than by guns.
Would you kindly provide the names of those 26 States????
There is no violation of freedom, only a protection for users of that freedom.....the USERS of that freedom don't need protection; they are quite proficient in the use of firearms.
We have uncontrollable violence in this country, growing increasingly worse each year.....WRONG, FBI says gun violence crimes are DOWN.....except in Chicago of course where under a DEMOCRAT mayor crime has skyrocketed.
All of those school shootings......Here is the real crime.....Sandy Hook.....after that massacre the NRA offered to train, free of charge, any teacher or anyone else associated with the school, in the use of firearms for the protection of the kids. The CURE????....they bulldozed the school, built a new one and sent their kids right back into the same situation, with NO protection against another attack. How about this one.....a school shooting in Kentucky where a teenage hunter in Kentucky ran to his pickup and got his hunting rifle and returned to the scene to take down the shooter. If ONE teacher, or the janitor, in any of those schools had been armed, things would've turned out differently. If you are going to leave it up to law enforcement, consider this.....it takes 9 to 12 minutes for police to respond to a call.....now consider the response time of a bullet from the gun of an armed citizen on the spot. In general, police do not prevent crimes.....they are called to INVESTIGATE crimes after they are committed.....about 85% of their time.
The best way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. I would rather have a gun in my hand than the police on the phone.
