Republicans with criminal records
Sheriff Joe Arpaio, misdemeanor criminal contempt, convicted of doing his job, just like President Trump said.
Greg Gianforte, misdemeanor assault. He put an aggressive reporter in his place.
Don Blankenship, conspiring to evade safety laws after 29 miners died. Misdemeanor.
Michael Grimm, plead 'guilty' to felony tax evasion.
Democrats with criminal records
David Alcon, convicted stalker. Not once, but twice. Recidivist sexual predator?
Bradley (Chelsea?) Manning, convicted spy.
OK, so now we've got our lineup, let's get down to specifics.
Republicans; and first up, Sheriff Joe:
Sheriff Joe Arpaio was convicted of doing what he was elected to do, enforce the laws of Maricopa County. Unfortunately, he was targeted by the highly politicized US Department of (Obama) Justice who first won a court order barring him from arresting illegal aliens then charged that he broke that order, after he already told them to go pound sand. There is an excellent chance that 'America's Sheriff' will be elected to the US Senate, where his brand of honesty and openness is sorely needed.
Next, Greg Gianforte:
Greg Gianforte was convicted of misdemeanor assault. Reporter Ben Jacobs approached him and held a device up to his face asking him questions. Gianforte declined to be interviewed and the reporter stayed in his face and wouldn't let up. He put an aggressive reporter in his place. Of course, two wrongs do not make a right, but we all have our limits. This reporter clearly overstepped his. Gianforte is also likely to be elected.
Don Blankenship:
Don Blankenship was convicted of conspiring to evade safety laws after 29 miners died. A misdemeanor that caused him to spend a year in prison. Apparently, the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), knew of over 600 mine safety violations committed by his company Massey Energy and ignored them. Only after 29 miners were killed did the MSHA lift a finger to attempt to bring this rogue company to heel with a lame misdemeanor charge against its CEO. Blankenship's prospects of being elected are considered bleak at best.
And finally, Michael Grimm:
On December 23, 2014, less than two months after winning reelection, Grimm pleaded guilty to one charge of felony tax evasion. Grimm admitted to two of the offenses in the original indictment: knowingly employing people ineligible to work in the United States and lying in a 2013 deposition. A classic corrupt politician. He is not considered a serious contender either.
And now, Democrats:
First on our list, David Alcon.
David Alcon is a convicted stalker. Not once, but twice. Might we be looking at a recidivist sexual predator? That's a question beyond my pay grade but one thing for sure, in the current #metoo climate, he won't get very far.
And now to the Democrat 'rising star', Bradley (Chelsea?) Manning:
Manning, who is a convicted spy, was convicted by court-martial in July 2013 of violations of the Espionage Act and other offenses, after disclosing to WikiLeaks nearly 750,000 classified, or unclassified but sensitive military and diplomatic documents. Manning came out as transgender after being sentenced by the aforementioned court-martial to 35 years in prison. President Barack Obama (whose own patriotism remains somewhat 'questionable') granted Manning clemency before leaving office in 2017, causing his/her/its release from Ft. Leavenworth 32 years early. Only a delirious Democrat would take this candidacy seriously, which, considering the constituency, elevates it to about a 50/50 probability of ultimate success.
So, to sum up, we have Republicans, who are:
An ex county sheriff who was persecuted by the Obama DOJ.
A politician who was assaulted by, and in turn assaulted a journalist.
A coal baron who flouts safety rules, and..
A crooked politician who could only get caught evading taxes.
And Democrats who are:
A sexual predator, and..
A convicted, sexually confused spy.
And we wonder why Washington is 'broken'?
