LEAKED MEMO: DREAMers Are ‘Critical’ To Democrats ‘Future Electoral Success’

In the wake of Kate Steinle’s killer—an illegal immigrant—going free, conservatives have renewed calls for legislation and physical barriers to prevent illegal immigration. The Right has long held that Democrats support the Obama-era policy of allowing young illegals, known as Dreamers, to stay in the U.S. only because they want the votes; Democrats have denied that for years.
Now, however, it seems the Left has been caught with its hand in the cookie jar. A leaked memo from former Clinton communications director Jennifer Palmieri, speaking for the Center for American Progress, called the Dreamers a “critical component of the Democratic Party’s future electoral success.”
An Awkward Admission
Palmieri’s memo was sent to various Democrat allies, calling for them to “refuse to offer any votes for Republican spending bills that do not offer a fix for Dreamers and instead appropriate funds to deport them.”
The fundraising memo admitted what the Right has been saying all along – that Democrats support illegal immigration because they generally vote for Dem candidates.
Palmieri went on to underline her point in the memo, doubling down on the idea that Democrats need to support Dreamers and Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) policy because Democrats also need votes:
If Democrats don’t try to do everything in their power to defend Dreamers, that will jeopardize Democrats’ electoral chances in 2018 and beyond. In short, the next few weeks will tell us a lot about the Democratic Party and its long-term electoral prospects.
Tucker Carlson confronted Henry Fernandez, a fellow at the Center for American Progress, on his show Monday night, asking him to explain the memo.
Fernandez claimed that most Americans support not only amnesty for Dreamers but so-called “chain migration,” in which immigrants bring their extended family members to the United States.
While Fernandez claimed that Dreamers are fairly educated – or at least, that 80% of them are in high school – the pro-amnesty American Immigration Council admitted in 2012 that there are many young illegals who are “between the ages of 15 and 30 who are not in high school and don’t have high school diplomas.”
Trump Takes Aim at DACA
The House of Representatives put forward a DACA replacement this week that seeks to address the concerns over chain migration, but it may not pass.
President Trump has moved to end DACA, which was instituted by former President Barack Obama via executive order – an illegal action that overstepped the Constitutional bounds of the Executive Branch.
Trump has given Congress until March to come up with an alternative plan.
