Ah, deflection and diffusion.
My question directly affected his. In order to reduce his tax bill, we have to reduce spending, if we're not going to increase what he has to pay. I'm asking what he wants to cut in order to accomplish the answer that he's looking for. Seems pretty simple to me.

Well, I would if I knew what services you wanted to preserve. Until you establish what you want the federal government to do, I can't make that determination. There ain't no free lunch. You have to pay for what you get at some point.

Well sure we have an answer....we pay taxes for government services and how much we get to keep is what is negotiated by our representatives to pay for those services. The only way to keep all we make is to have no government services (defense, roads, mail, NASA, etc.) At the other extreme is that all we earn is given to the state because they provide everything from cradle to grave (in theory, of course). What we (the citizens) negotiate is the level of services and how to pay for them.

The real question isn't how much are you allowed to keep, it's how much are you willing to pay? I understand that conservatives might think they are paying too much, or for the wrong things. Isn't that part of the negotiations we citizens have through our representatives? There is no right answer, and that includes zero.
