"It is another step towards putting the White House staff and National Security Council back in the role of making policy and allowing military commanders and CIA station chiefs to work within the confines of that policy to accomplish a mission rather than allowing the incessant meddling that characterized the Obama administration." Wow. I had no idea it was that bad. It's Vietnam all over again, where they had to get approvals from the Pentagon just to attack an enemy anti-aircraft gun.

I think this about sums it up:

"The Obama decision was about control, credit, and risk aversion. Hopefully that day is passing fast and we start teaching our commanders how to be commanders again."

Praise the Lord and pass the ammo!

I didn't read the piece but just from the headline I assumed it meant unleash the Dogs of War. Lift the asinine rules of engagement that are getting our guys killed and wounded and to finally win one. Let the Military do what the Military is there for and what THEY do best. Kill and destroy, otherwise bring them home and station them on our Southern Border. Mike

I may have missed something here, but is that not what the previous 16 years have been spent attempting to accomplish? If these terrorists have not been engaged militarily with the US during all of that time, then what have the US military been doing on their Middle East deployments, playing golf? Either Trump has finally given up all hold on reality or whoever wrote that piece is woefully misinformed. I'm hoping for the latter but suspecting the former.

I was stateside during my service which was at the height of the war in RVN.. A e-4 I worked for a BN XO the last year active. There would be meetings the BN XO THE BN CO and the other brass from brigade , and we drivers, RTO's etc would be in earshot in case we were needed, and they would lament that the war could be ended in 60 days or less in they would only be permitted to do their jobs... Naturally, that was neever really in the mix and the casualties are double what they should have been.

That war was never supposed to end. It was designed to last for generations and keep the military-industrial complex well fed and enriched. just like the one we're witnessing now. Remember what dick Cheney said? 100 years and it still might not be over. Yeah, let that sink in for a minute...

Sure was. They don't make 'em like that any more. Did you read about the time he beheaded a bunch of concubines while training them to prove his abilities to the emperor? They wouldn't do as they were told. He snuffed one in ten. They sure flew right after that. He got the job.

I totally agree.
A 17 year war, were not winning, it's a stalemate.
As a Viet Nam Veteran, and with 15 years in the Marine Corps, I say let the politician's go fight it, it's their war,
see if they can survive on what our troops survive on.
Then come back home and have the VA screw up their medical care.
Bring our men and women home.
