Damn, when it rains it seems to pour.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions seemed to throw some cold water Tuesday on Republicans clamoring for the Department of Justice to appoint a special counsel to investigate former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) pressed Sessions on why it had taken the Justice Department months to hint, as it did Monday, at the prospect of considering a special counsel to probe years-old matters connected to Clinton.

Jordan said he thought evidence unearthed in the past year about how the FBI decided against charging Clinton over her handling of classified information at the State Department appeared to warrant a special counsel, and he also raised questions about the FBI's links to a disputed dossier of information about Donald Trump's alleged Russia ties.

"'Looks like' is not enough basis to appoint a special counsel," Sessions responded.

A Department of Justice spokesman said Sessions was not taking sides on GOP lawmakers' monthslong call for a special counsel to investigate Clinton. "The attorney general was clarifying the legal basis for appointing special counsel — not passing judgment on whether it applied in any specific investigation," spokesman Ian Prior said.

And Sessions, too, later clarified his comments. "I did not mean to suggest I was taking a side one way or the other on that subject," he said.

Still, the attorney general's comments on the matter are significant because they won't be heard only by lawmakers. Trump has badgered Sessions and the Department of Justice to launch further probes of Clinton, his rival in the 2016 election, and has lamented that DOJ has historically been independent of the president.

Looks like Sessions was a poor choice as it seems he's part of the establishment .

Of course liberals view Clinton as someone that is honest and trust worthy and will do anything in their power to make sure she goes Scott free

Sessions should have remained in the Senate. He is a disappointment as AJ. He seems to fit the mold of those who preceded him.

Two days ago Session supposedly told his Federal prosecutors to open an investigation ..

Politics you just never know..

I understand there are some Republicans calling for his resignation too...

If I come across the article I’ll post it..

The rest of the World, and there is a World outside of the States believe it or not, watched in amazement as Hillary used the "same sex is best" message to sell her portfolio of congested toilet romance, as a bid to become the President, that was OK because it was amusing, but what wasn't funny was when she copped the blow back for being an idiot and she was cooked like a gefiltefish dish, only to realise she couldn't swallow what she had presented to others as true rodeo stew. We from Down Under think Sessions should bring her to book let her smelly fish cakes do some jail time and give most Aussies a real laugh.

What does being part of the establishment have to do with this? He can't create something to prosecute her on. If there's no there there then he's doing the only thing he can.

Following the law is disappointing. On that I will agree...

Welcome RT friend, thank for the heads up on the Aussie clear understanding as to why our President Donald Trump...declared Hillary Clinton a "Nasty Women"...and along with Australia, we the true Americans who elected Donald Trump have suffered much too long at the mercy of crooked so called leaders...that is why we put him in the Oval office...So in the process of draining the swamp,..nasty is being revealed from both national parties...these nasty swamp creatures are not only a shame on the US, they are shame on the whole human race....Treason is being committed by Republicans and Democrats and we the people can't seem to stop it..the swamp is much deeper than was originally assessed ..I personally believe these monster's have so much smut on each other that they're solidarity is Blackmail...so again thanks for the righteous support from the Land Down Under...oh as a curiosity,...what would you say as to the way our government was operated by Obama and cohort's?...if you would please..Thanks
