When the Know-Nothings get control, it will read 'all men are created equal, except negroes, and FOREIGNERS, and Catholics.' When it comes to this I should prefer emigrating to some country where they make no pretense of loving liberty – to Russia, for instance, where despotism can be taken pure, and without the base alloy of hypocrisy.”

Or bring Russia here, under Trump, where we are getting nothing but pretense. This statement is the ultra-embarrassment to Trump. He looks so exceedingly small next to this president, a mosquito. What we once were as a great nation to the absurdity of Trump. Make the comparison! See clearly how terribly low the office of the presidency has sunk. Lincoln would have left literally this country under Trump! As far as a Know-Nothing goes, track Trump's enormous ignorance on many topics, such as praising the non-existent country of Nambia for having an excellent healthcare system. How did he get to that absurdity?

And here is some more; he would make a perfect Know-Nothing:
"[Vladimir Putin} is not going into Ukraine, OK, just so you understand. He’s not gonna go into Ukraine, all right? You can mark it down. You can put it down." –Donald Trump, apparently unaware that Russia had already annexed Crimea in a 2014 intrusion into Ukraine that left thousands dead (July 31, 2016)

"'You do know you just attacked a Gold Star family?' one adviser warned Trump
Trump didn’t know what a Gold Star family was: 'What’s that?' he asked." –as reported by New York Magazine

Totally ignorant of malicious sexism and that such actions as he described are considered rape in 18 states and assault in name a state. Forcefully grabbing a person anywhere without their permission is considered simple assault; a sexually aggressive grab could be a felony, of assault or rape.
"You know I’m automatically attracted to beautiful — I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab them by the p**sy. You can do anything." –Donald Trump in a 2005 interview with Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush. Total ignorance

The ignorance of sensitivity. How may people were just burned or crushed to death by a violent attack and he is bragging about his building size. That day!
"40 Wall Street actually was the second-tallest building in downtown Manhattan... And now it’s the tallest." –Donald Trump, bragging about his building following the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center in an interview with WWOR/UPN 9 News in New York (Sept. 11, 2001)

The profound immaturity, a form of ignorance, of turning a playground gesture into an armed conflict where Americans would die and escalation into a far wider war might follow.
“When Iran, when they circle our beautiful destroyers with their little boats, and they make gestures at our people that they shouldn’t be allowed to make, they will be shot out of the water." –Donald Trump, threatening to go to war with Iran over rude hand gestures, Pensacola, Florida, (Sept. 9, 2016)

Brilliant!
"Iraq and Iran were very similar militarily, and they’d fight, fight, fight, and then they’d rest. "They’d fight, fight, fight, and then Saddam Hussein would do the gas, and somebody else would do something else, and they’d rest." –Donald Trump, demonstrating his knowledge of foreign policy at a town hall meeting in Virginia Beach, VA (Sept. 6, 2016)

The crass immaturity, ignorance, of making someone else's profound loss all about you.
"Dwyane Wade's cousin was just shot and killed walking her baby in Chicago. Just what I have been saying. African-Americans will VOTE TRUMP!" –Donald Trump, tweeting about the tragic death of Nykea Aldridge, cousin of NBA star Dwyane Wade, and making it all about him (Aug. 27, 2016)

Denigrating the entire Black Community as a way of getting votes. This stark ignorance is hard to comprehend.
"What do you have to lose by trying something new like Trump? What do you have to lose? You’re living in poverty; your schools are no good; you have no jobs; 58 percent of your youth is unemployed. What the hell do you have to lose?" –Donald Trump, making a pitch to win over African American voters, adding, "At the end of four years, I guarantee you that I will get 95 percent of the African-American vote." (Aug. 19, 2016)

Love this one. C'mon! Everyone has to love this monumental idiocy, the incredible ignorance of what Nuclear War would mean. In that same meeting he asked, "If we have them, why can't we use them," and then suggested a new Nuclear Arms Race and it wouldn't be so bad if all nations had them.
"Why can’t we use nuclear weapons?" –Donald Trump, reportedly asking a foreign policy adviser three times during a meeting why the U.S. couldn’t use its nuclear weapons stockpile, according to MSNBC's Joe Scarborough

This one is overwhelmingly obvious.
"They don’t write good. They have people over there, like Maggie Haberman and others, they don’t — they don’t write good. They don’t know how to write good." –Donald Trump, attacking the New York Times in a grammatically flawed tirade, Fox News interview with Sean Hannity, Aug. 1, 2016

Unreal.
"I always wanted to get the Purple Heart. This was much easier." –Donald Trump, on receiving a Purple Heart as a gift from a retired lieutenant colonel and supporter (August 2, 2016)

His xenophobia, a form of ignorance, couldn't hear her words.
"I'd like to hear his wife say something." –Donald Trump, smearing Ghazala Khan, the mother of a fallen American soldier, by implying that she was not allowed to speak, despite the fact that she has spoken publicly about her son's death (ABC News interview, July 30, 2016)

The Bully, ignorant of respecting others or their person.
‘You know what I wanted to. I wanted to hit a couple of those speakers so hard. I would have hit them. No, no. I was going to hit them, I was all set and then I got a call from a highly respected governor... I was gonna hit one guy in particular, a very little guy. I was gonna hit this guy so hard his head would spin and he wouldn’t know what the hell happened... I was going to hit a number of those speakers so hard their heads would spin, they’d never recover. And that’s what I did with a lot – that’s why I still don’t have certain people endorsing me: they still haven’t recovered." –Donald Trump, reacting to the Democratic National Convention (July 29, 2016)

Ignorance of the sovereignty of this nation and its laws.
“Russia, if you’re listening, I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing. I think you will probably be rewarded mightily by our press." –Donald Trump, calling on Russian espionage services to intervene in the U.S. election and help sabotage Hillary Clinton. The emails in question were deemed "personal," but Trump has previously said he thinks they contain sensitive intelligence, meaning that Trump is hoping Vladimir Putin gains access to classified government information (July 27, 2016)

This is classic ignorant Trump, showing his racism. And ignorantly brown-nosing a known adversary of America. "Hey," Trump is saying, I am white; Putin will me better."
“I was shocked to hear [Vladimir Putin] mention the N-word. You know what the N-word is. Number one he doesn’t like him and number two he doesn’t respect him. I think he’s going to respect your president if I’m elected and I hope he likes me." –Donald Trump, implying that Putin uses the "N-word" to describe President Obama, July 27, 2016

The insensitivity level, ignorance of what binds people together and making another tragedy, this time national, all about him.
"Appreciate the congrats for being right on radical Islamic terrorism, I don't want congrats, I want toughness & vigilance. We must be smart!" –Donald Trump, tweeting a humble brag following the Orlando shooting massacre, June 12, 2016.

Racism is ignorance on steroids. Here he is again on Mexicans.
"I’ve been treated very unfairly by this judge. Now, this judge is of Mexican heritage. I'm building a wall, OK? I'm building a wall." –Donald Trump, accusing U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel, who is presiding over the fraud case against Trump University, of being biased against him because of his Mexican heritage, despite the fact that he is a U.S. citizen who was born in Indiana (CNN interview, June 5, 2016)

This stands on its own.
"Happy Cinco de Mayo! The best taco bowls are made in Trump Tower Grill. I love Hispanics!" –Donald Trump on Twitter. He loves Hispanics but essentially says his restaurant makes their native food better. Okay.
“As a nation, we began by declaring that 'all men ... (show quote)

The lies.

That would be like someone calling Obama macho.

The saddest part about the left's over use of the race card is that it (as planned) hides actual racism when it takes place.

This is curious. Complicated. We are good friends, say, and you take me aside to say that you are concerned I may have become addicted to drugs. But you drink almost every night. As someone who is addicted to drugs, knows you, and thus very defensive, I say to you, "You are rather judgmental and self-righteous." Even with traces of cocaine in my beard. Who is seeing clearly? My point is about being discerning, as you were with me and I wished I had stopped before that awful tattoo. The defensive, like me with you about my drug addiction, will not want to hear it. They will counter attack. But you were discerning, not judgmental, caring for my well-being as a friend. You spoke a hard truth. Not self-righteous, concerned. Discriminating between what is judgmental or discerning is difficult. A child plays in the street and we give him a gentle whack on the butt and tell him it is dangerous, and he or she hates us for months.

Self-righteousness is not easy to discern, but easy to judge, depending on our sense of guilt, usually. No comment ever by anyone, friend or foe, should be ignored. All should be welcomed. No accusation but serious consideration. No need to judge their motives, or assume them. Is it true? the only question, if we care about being decent. Any defensiveness whatsoever is almost a telltale sign of guilt. Not definitely but likely. Claiming another to be judgmental and self-righteous is, however, most often a defense talking or discernment.

That is far from what President Trump said. When asked about Clinton's e-mails he said we didn't find them "maybe Russia can...I don't know". Now, the thing with very intelligent people is they can't fathom what it's like to not be that smart. So they automatically think that ALL people are as smart as they are and will understand what they say. So, when he said this, he was actually trying to get a dig in about Clinton and her business dealings with Russia (think uranium). But the liberal media (not being very smart) heard and reported it a very different way. And the common snowflake (being even dumber) believed them. And the really, really dense ones repeated it.
