They will counter attack. But you were discerning, not judgmental, caring for my well-being as a friend. You spoke a hard truth. Not self-righteous, concerned. Discriminating between what is judgmental or discerning is difficult. A child plays in the street and we give him a gentle whack on the butt and tell him it is dangerous, and he or she hates us for months.

Self-righteousness is not easy to discern, but easy to judge, depending on our sense of guilt, usually. No comment ever by anyone, friend or foe, should be ignored. All should be welcomed. No accusation but serious consideration. No need to judge their motives, or assume them. Is it true? the only question, if we care about being decent.
