The Progressive Era was a period of widespread social activism and political reform across the United States, from the 1890s to the 1920s. The main objectives of the Progressive movement were eliminating problems caused by industrialization, urbanization, immigration, and corruption in government. Initially the movement operated chiefly at local levels; later, it expanded to state and national levels. Progressives drew support from the middle class, and supporters included many lawyers, teachers, physicians, ministers, and business people. Some Progressives strongly supported scientific methods as applied to economics, government, industry, finance, medicine, schooling, theology, education, and even the family. They closely followed advances underway at the time in Western Europe and adopted numerous policies, such as a major transformation of the banking system by creating the Federal Reserve System in 1913. Nikky, did you notice this sentence in your last post? The movement primarily targeted political machines and their bosses. By taking down these corrupt representatives in office a further means of direct democracy would be established.

I bet you didn't since you are so wise as to know that getting all the people in the US together to vote on proposed laws would require a very large meeting place. Direct democracy may work in a small town but surely not anything larger. You lefties sure don't seem to realize this.

Hey, Dip, someone is very sick and doesn't understand what the Nazi symbol was. On your cartoon that showed Trump bulldozing all those people the wheels aren't around the Nazi symbol you leaners want to be real. Those things are old American Indian symbols. Maybe you and your leaner cartoonists need to study a little bit of history, the first chance you get.

That would be the 4th cartoon in your leaning group. Actually I feel pretty sorry for you people.

The symbols were originally American Indian symbols but their latest symbolism was for the Nazis. OR, I'm surprised at you missing an era during which the symbolism changed. Usually you offer a much more intelligent post. I believe you lived through that era as I did. Latest symbolism is NAZI!

Here is one person, Kevyn, who has (and always does) have such an effect on you Trupeteers that a group must resort to calling him names and threatening him. Now, how many does it take to do the job. Most of you could just have replied "Ditto" because most of you had nothing to say -- only threaten or whine like your leader.

The real changes took place in the 1960s. I think more change took place in the decades of the 1960s and 1970s. Liberalism has never died because it is alive and well in our general culture and our universities. It is getting nastier and nastier like killing free speech and attacking Christianity, etc. Liberalism will never die until the American People root it out and rid themselves of the curse.

The person you see in that photograph is Hillary's lover. He is the kind of lover that can satisfy Hillary when Bill can't get it up. She likes it rough and mean. It helps to relieve her conscience of some of the mean and nasty things she has done and lied about. It is a form of punishment and guilt reducer.

Outstanding answer, Sam. At least you proved that you know what has taken place during the Vietnam War and since. I thought that Mikky did a good job in the post you answered but yours was better and better informed.

Does the Nazi swastika really appear to be the same as the Indian one was? If so, you need to compare them side by side. So many people don't know the difference but it is sure there.

If I am not mistaken, the Nazi symbol was copied, or acquired, from a Church in Germany. I think it was also a symbol of the Teutonic Knights who served Charlamaine in the Middle Ages. It was all a part of The Holy Roman Empire.
