Agreed! However, the law enforcement is usually US citizen enforcing the code. In the public realm, I am a private American on Oregon. You go against the code at your own risk. Therefore, I find it prudent to point out to the de facto, legislative, judiciary and executive what the issue is. There is a maxim of law --if the official was notified of your intent and the issue was clear, they accept your position. Now, the code enforcers will take heed.
