What?! Is OPP turning into grade school cliques? 'Invite Only Discussion'. How elitist. How childish.

If you can't listen to an opinion that differs from your own, it leads you to the state of sheer ignorance.
Invite only and the ignore option, has turned this site into a fools plantation.
It's usually mostly liberals who hide behind the walls of the ignore option and invite only.
But there are also a few jellyfish conservatives who don't have the intestinal fortitude to stand in the fire of confrontational discourse.
I say to any and all, " bring it Bubba ".
I stand here in this white hot kitchen, and I ain't going nowhere.
I love verbal warfare, but I hate a coward with a glowing passion.
So let them go ahead and run to their safe spaces.
It just labels them with a yellow stripe down their backs.
Cowards beware, there will be no mercy from the Wolf Counselor.
So when they see me coming, they had best crawl back under their rocks and cower in silence.
Because I'm bringin' the thunder...........PUNKS !!

"Invite only and the ignore option, has turned this site into a fools plantation."-- agreed! I never liked any division/segregation/elitism. No matter where I find it. Declaring some people to be so different- on a public forum!- is a purely hideous idea.

You're a man among men Sir.
Thanks for being the example of a great American.
May God's goodness and mercy follow you all the days of your life.

Thank you for the kind words. I feel that I really deserve notthing resembling praise because I am doing and advocating exactly what should be as I was taught by me mum & dad.
Oh, and in this place- OPP- I do have company.... such as yourself.

At first I, like most, just looked past that insidious encroachment into the 'free-wheeling open idea exchange' I like in a site of this genre, but, C'mon-- "Invite - only"? Aren't we all out of grade school recess time by now?
Maybe I missed something... something important, something super-duper whatever?
Perhaps I should just 'put it behind me, get on with my life, get over it'?

I use invite only for topics which are not chit chat but are not political either. Usually something with useful information or serious content. There is no restriction on invite only other than keep your language civil. The name chosen for this forum is misleading in that everyone is invited without restrictions other than the ignore function which is a personal matter. The topics are not restricted nor are your responses, free wheeling is the mode of the day.
I really don't understand why you and several other find this offensive, do you feel it is an abridgement of your free speech rights not to be permitted to spew scurrilous venom on others? Do you believe this should be permitted everywhere as a substitute for debate or discussion? There is no other restriction so why the choler?

Invite only is OPP's version of a "safe room." I am unsure if they provide plush stuff toys and coloring books, but they have provided a space for some to "feel" safe in making any comment without worry of someone disagreeing.
I got booted because I said to lpnminor, "prove it,moron", after it blathered on about agw being true. Imagine that. Seems there IS a commiecrat in charge.

Did I say 'offensive'? No.
What I said is I thought it, well, ridiculous in a 'room' full of adults.
Why, for instance isn't this a universal requirement: "There is no restriction on invite only other than keep your language civil."
What's the problem insisting all posters (postors?) be civil and refrain from jr. high Boys' Room stupidity?
Why is there a "special" room for "special" people? I still do not get it.

Well... 'booted', eh? From there? I say that calls for a free beer anywhere near my -20, gotta tell ya.
(Maybe next time.. drop the "moron" thing? I mean, everyone knows what 'prove it' means, right?
)

Don't worry about that as when you do post and go after some of the scum dogs, you will be banned from going back.

That is certainly true, you don't get it. There is nothing special about the room or the people. Various forums already existed on OPP, Spirituality, Chit Chat, Politics of the Right and Main-Political. Invite Only was created to force discussion instead of the incessant, obscene sniping, that many members use to destroy any post. When certain people begin posting I unwatch the topic because my e-mail gets flooded with garbage. At my time of life I am keenly aware of time wasted.
If special rooms and special people agitate you, don't read the post. It will be your loss. I intend to keep using this forum because in the Main forum there is a boring repetition of the same data, mumbled over in myriad ways, about the actors in the Kabuki Theater we call politics. There are far more interesting things to be discussed and I don't want the usual cast of villains shutting off discussion with crap.

Oh, I don't know----------------
Sounds like an attempt to deny reality. I prefer to sort my own. Besides.. every now and again one of the more offensive posts do contain
something worthy of reading. Rarely, I'll admit, but still.
Where is reality denied ? The forum is intended to further political debate & exchange & debate !!! You're right, I've found a lot of good info & sources of info in the open threads ! It would be great if we could behave like adults & not vulgar childishness !!!
