How about a "just" bacon burger? I wonder how ground bacon would hold together. Hmmm...

With lettuce, tomato and mayo, sounds awesome!

the real history of the demize of the Azrwcs
Back
The unfortunate demise of the Aztecs was caused by the Spanish conquest of their land. Hernan Cortes, leading the Spaniards, arrived in Tenochtitlan on 8th November 1519. At this time the Aztecs were expecting the end of the fifth world (to which I have referred to in detail above) and believed that the white bearded god - Quetzalcóatl, would rule over the empire. They initially believed that Cortés (who bore a white beard) was the god they feared.

It is reported that the Spaniards had heard about the Aztec empire while sailing along the Gulf of Mexico coast. The Spaniard - Bernal Diaz del Castillo reported their entry into the Aztec region as quoted below:

"We proceeded along the causeway..so crowded with people that there was hardly room for them all, ... Gazing on such wonderful sights, we did not know what to say, or whether what appeared before us was real, for on one side, on the land, there were great cities... and in front of us stood the City of Mexico ..."

The Aztecs were recorded in the Florentine Codex 1570 as saying the following of the arrival of the Spaniards:

"[The Spanish] came with their swords drawn, with their swords flashing ... they had shields of wood and leather. Secondly, in a squadron, came the horses, carrying men on their backs ... Those caballos - these 'deer' - snorted and neighed: ...And at the very end, directing from the rear, came their captain [Cortes]."

This was during the reign of the famous Aztec leader Moctezuma II. It would appear that Moctezuma was defeated treacherously by Cortes, although there are some versions of the story that suggest the Aztecs caused the death of their leader because he showed signs of weakness by trying to appease Cortes. I find it difficult to believe that the Aztecs would have done this when they had apparently held him in very high regard. I have not seen any unbiased accounts of what caused Moctezuma II's death.

Cortes formed an alliance with the Tlaxcalans (the enemy of the Aztecs) and commenced his assault against the Aztec empire. On 1st July 1520 the Aztecs fought hard and forced the Spaniards back causing vast fatalities to them. This event is referred to more commonly as “La Noche Triste” – The Sad Night.

On 13th August 1521 the Aztec empire eventually fell to the hands of the Spanish during the rule of the last King of the City – Cuauhetemoc.

I have seen some evidence where the Spaniards recorded what they found having conquered the land. They were, allegedly, shocked by the practises of the Aztecs in relation to sacrifices. They deemed the Aztecs barbaric. Cortes is reported as saying:

"this horrible and abominable thing, truly worthy of punishment, that we have never seen anywhere else: every time they want to ask something of their idols, they take little girls and boys, and even adult men and women, and cut open their chests to pull out heart and entrails."

It is apparent to me that the Spaniards took Aztec land in order to increase their wealth and power, to extend their territories and to spread Catholicism. One of the main reasons for their success in battle against the Aztecs was the fact that they had horses and also more sophisticated weapons. It took them several years after the conquest to completely take the lands

The Spanish destroyed the temples and the city of Tenochtitlan. They ensured there was no visible trace of the Aztec religion. In the precinct of the Templo Mayor they built a Cathedral. They burnt all religious costumes, images of the gods and any books they could find. They banned any religious festivals.

It is said that over 90% of the Aztecs died in the hundred years following the conquest. Diseases from Europe and smallpox were the main causes. The Florentine Codex 1579 records that many also died through starvation as they had no family surviving to help them.

The Spanish Priests arrived with the aim to teach the people about Catholicism and to convert them by persuasion and by force if necessary.

As I understand it, like many pagans the Aztecs were brutal in their sacrifices to their gods butchering children to their gods.

I think we need to buy up land next to or as close as we can to all Mosque and start Pig Farms

We can start having pig races on the hours of their worship and then we can have on track pig betting to help out the farmer. We could also go for old fashioned bar-b-cue cook off's and smoke the bacon and ham in the smoke house. We could also invite the German and Polish people to put on cooking seminars for good old fashioned foods like pork hocks and sauerkraut and the Polish could make up some blood sausage and various types of sausage and the Germans can do this as well. We could really have ourselves some fun with this.
