How Can You Be Outraged by Assad, and a Happy Guest in Saudi Arabia?
http://republicbroadcasting.org/news/how-can-you-be-outraged-by-assad-and-a-happy-guest-in-saudi-arabia/

Well, the next time you hear anyone from the US government going on about the horrors of the Assad ‘regime’, or indeed any other country where the internal arrangements are squalid and brutal (or the government is waging an ultra-violent war against a neighbour, or both), remind yourself of Secretary of State Rex Tillerson’s words, or rather lack of them, during the bizarre Trump visit to the Saudi despotism over the weekend.

After attacking restrictions on free speech in Iran (which is a good deal less repressive than Saudi Arabia), Secretary Tillerson was then asked by a reporter if he had anything to say about human rights in Saudi Arabia. He left without answering, according to the New York Times.

The same paper reports a recent speech by Mr Tillerson to employees of the US foreign ministry, the State Department:

‘If we condition too heavily that others must adopt this value that we’ve come to over a long history of our own, it really creates obstacles to our ability to advance our national security interests, our economic interests,’

Which seems to me (though the use of English is execrable) to mean, national security and cash override any pious sermons we might hitherto have emitted on the subject of liberty.

The speech also contains this passage (emphases mine):

(Please note the weird use of the word ‘condition’ as a transitive verb) :

‘And so I think the real challenge many of us have as we think about constructing our policies and carrying out our policies is: How do we represent our values?......

eagleye-I do not believe we will change the ME culture any time soon. Let them live the way they want and let us
do likewise. We have spent fortunes and lives in attempts at nation building and it has not worked. We have a
choice, we can trade with these countries or we can isolate them. So, in your opinion, what should we do with Saudi Arabia who happens to be our largest trading partner in the ME? I believe the primary reason we have maintained
a presence in the ME is that we have a nuclear armed Pakistan. If the Taliban were to take over do you think they might use those nukes? Should we allow Iran to have nukes? We do not have too many good options do we?
What I find disconcerting is that we are allowing Muslim communities to form here in the USA. Before too long they
will control major Cities and States. I believe we should be more concerned about that event than how a ME
country treats its people. What am I missing? PS. Has Saudi Arabi gassed any of its people. America First !!!!

Thanks for your asking me what I think, Ricko.
Lots of questions and side issues here.
"So, in your opinion, what should we do with Saudi Arabia who happens to be our largest trading partner in the ME?"
A sinister partnership.
In short; dissolve it. Develop our own natural resources. (Alaska) might be too late

"Should we allow Iran to have nukes? "
Trying to keep it uncomplicated. YES. Should Israel be allowed to be nuclear? BTW; they stole our Nuclear secrets, and developed their nuclear program with Red China. Some study required on that one.

"What I find disconcerting is that we are allowing Muslim communities to form here in the USA."
Europe woke up too late,
That is the Political Zionist program. Quite diabolical.
