There is a difference between SSDI and SSI. Those receiving SSDI, (Social Security Disability Income) paid into the system with monthly payments based on FICA monies paid via a 10 year minimum work history, relying heavily on mental disorder for approval. Mine is a live long history of depression with records since the age of 16, experiencing a "nervous breakdown" in my mid 30's. I've been receiving SSDI for about 15 years, turning 60 this year.

SSI is Supplement Security Income and is, in fact, welfare. SSI is NOT funded by Social Security monies, the funds are only administered by Social Security and suppose to be only "temporary". I know one man older than I has been receiving SSI for about 30 years and hails from a "well to do" family.

Frankly, SSI should be restricted to children born disabled into low-income families or discovered later as diseased, i.e. Muscular Dystrophy, Autism, tragic accident, etc. In my state recipients receive $733/M. I imagine this varies by state/region. All SSI checks are paid on the 1st day of the month.

What I have noticed over the past, I don't know, 8 years maybe, was the cattle call for "get your disability now" campaign. Hmmmm.....

Fraud in ALL levels of government needs to be annihilated, period. I watched a Frontline showing massive fraud (padding costs by the millions for tax breaks) in Miami for the HUD Section 8 "low income housing" building industry. The shell company in Costa Rica was quite the vacation resort.

I know, I didn't vote. I made a conscience decision not to participate in man's government. In 2012, I didn't vote due to apathy coupled with just plain laziness. I was however shocked and thrilled Hillary lost.

Time will tell to [W]hom OUR President Trump answers. I am hearing rumors he wants to "crash" the economy before the "deep state" does, thus his Asian deals which will include Russia "collusion". Also hearing rumors about drilling Alaska and Louisiana in attempts for self-sufficiency here in the land of America First.

Again I say, the last time I wished I were older I was 12.

Yes, absolutely. I do believe OUR President Trump wants to take it all down. I'm thinking Seth Rich had Pizzagate/Pedogate emails. I'm also beginning to wonder if Podesta is ex-CIA.

It seems Goldman-Sachs(sp) isn't in the news for nefarious dealings like all the other banks. Seems that once good people see the evil that surrounds them, they remove themselves. That's what I'm hoping relative to his "bankster" team.

I don't trust McMaster or Rence. I like Sean Spicer, his "pressers" are quite amusing. I want to trust Kushner and iffy on VP Pence. Both Bannon and Tillerson fascinate me. Frontline ran "Bannon's War" last night and not near long enough. I want more!!!

Would be interesting to find out how many millionaires are drawing ssi and medicare. I know of at least twenty retirees that brag about just signing their checks over to their grandchildren so they can have fun.

SSI is federal welfare. You can't have more than $2,000 (single) to your name. You can own one home and a car. You must mean Social Security Retirement. It is their $$$, they paid into the SSA system.

Also, there is a "cap". Once income reaches that "cap" any earnings above that "cap" is not FICA taxed. I think it's south of $200,000. Also, congress salaries just started paying FICA tax in the 1980's. Go figure.

Quest Girl-MIC-Military industrial Complex- Trump is trying to get able -bodied people from welfare to work which is the way it should be. Saw a clip from California where a young man who spent his time surfing while on SNAP. He
openly admitted, on camera, that he used the stamps to buy lobster and other delicacies. The governor of Maine had 12,000 people on welfare rolls. He came up with the idea that those who were able to work should contribute some time working for the State. Within a few short months the rolls dwindled to 2,000. Right now we have
social workers soliciting people to fill out applications for government benefits. We probably have millions drawing
checks while the taxpayer struggles to feed his family. That is what needs to stop. Trump is trying to balance the
budget in 10years and the democrats will fight him all the way. Those clowns do not have any concept of what will
happen when debt service eats up all of the tax revenue. It is disgusting to see the level of stupidity in government.

Yes, I know and I support him. I think many people confuse SSDI and SSI as being one in the same and they are not. You can't get SSDI unless you paid into the FICA fund that is matched by the employer. It isn't easy either. I was lucky for I had a long documented history. Nor was it a "social worker" that signed me up, but a bonafied psychiatrist and took only 18 months for approval. First application is most always an automatic "denied". Also, mediCare is limited by funds paid. Some only qualify for Part A.

I know a guy in his early 50's. He "played" his whole life, under the table, an alcoholic and takes umpteen medications. He weighs in at nearly 400# and travels by scooter. He has been trying to get on SSI, but turned down about 5 times to date. Again, from a "well to do" family, his dad is a Freemason I'm told. He lives in free housing and sells his SNAP to pay his electric bill and buy rolling tobacco, beer and/or whiskey. This irks me to no end, but I'm not an "addict" either. He feeds himself via pantries.

SSI is abused and yes, there has been a promotional campaign these past 8-10 years "get your disability now". This has a nefarious stench to it. Seems this has slowed down as I don't see the ads nor get the "spam" emails of late. Fraud infuriates me as I know it infuriates OUR President Trump as well, thank God.

California guy's parents probably live in Malibu! I can not tolerate those that abuse the system. When it gets "cut-off" only the truly needy suffer.
