Hello 👋 Linda,
I don't know how to hate. If I were to hate anyone or anything it would be the ignorance of not loving another simply because they are a different color.
So I hope 🙏 that you like this poem. 2008 I was one of the top 10 finalists for "Poet of the Year". Considering that we elected our first black president 3 months after the reading that determined the winner. I am confident that I was in for the title and the $10,000 prize.
Poetry.com wanted the 10 finalists to go to Lasvegas and read our poetry to an audience of over 10,000 people. Then the audience voted for #1. Like I made reference to earlier about Obama I think I had it in the bag.
I sent the poem to Michelle Obama in '08, in 2014 she emailed me that she had nominated "The Racist" for the Pulitzer Prize.
I hope 🙏 that I don't sound like I am blowing my own horn. Truth is it is a little embarrassing to have a child come up asking for an autograph because he or she was taught the poem in school.

Hello to you iamtheracist1..... I rather doubt you are any racist ....I do love the words expressed in your poem but more so the feeling it elicits........

Have You written others?? If so it would be just as nice to read..
I love poetry as do a few others in here...look thru the posts of badbobby and pafret..I think you will be impressed...Beautiful they are except they are published poetry, where yours comes from you.......

I like that your poem was or is taught in school, we sure do need more of the positive if we are ever to bring unity back to this country, bobby......each of us needs to
learn to let go and let God~~~~
