If What Susan Rice Did Wasn't Illegal, It Should Be

The following is a brief portion of an article written by Mike Krieger. He raises an issue that should be a concern for all Americans. How can we allow our government to electronically surveil and record every aspect of our lives, and use and abuse it for political purposes? We know that judges, politicians, prominent business leaders are targeted, and using J. Edgar Hover's time proven technique of blackmail and leverage, our society is corrupted as a result. Should we not as a people be aware, discuss, and disseminate this information to our family and friends. Do we not have the power to effect positive changes within our own government?

Authored by Mike Krieger via Liberty Blitzkrieg blog,

We should never forget that everything Adolf Hitler did in Germany was “legal” and everything the Hungarian freedom fighters did in Hungary was “illegal.” It was “illegal” to aid and comfort a Jew in Hitler’s Germany. Even so, I am sure that, had I lived in Germany at the time, I would have aided and comforted my Jewish brothers.

From the 2013 post, Martin Luther King: “Everything Adolf Hitler did in Germany was Legal”
The fact that most of the debate surrounding the unmasking of Trump personnel revolves around whether it was legal or not highlights just how superficial and ethically deranged our culture has become. If what she did was indeed legal, this is an enormous problem in the first place, one that privacy advocates and opponents of Big Brother surveillance have been warning about constantly since the gulag spying panopticon was put in place following 9/11. For the purposes of this post, let’s assume that what Susan Rice did was legal.

If her actions were indeed totally by the books, we need to use this incident as a rallying call to reform the laws immediately. Likewise, Donald Trump should be pushing such reform tirelessly from his bully pulpit, but given his authoritarian nature I doubt he will. Fortunately, Rand Paul is heeding the call. https://libertyblitzkrieg.com/2017/04/04/if-what-susan-rice-did-wasnt-illegal-it-should-be/

Ask yourself this question; how did the current White House get copies of the intelligence reports? Did they obtain them illegally? No, they have a perfect right to obtain that material - just like Susan Rice did. Here's a fact Trump et al don't want us seeing; no one in the Obama administration is responsible for those people being ON those surveillance recordings, they did that on their own - they just got caught.

You are trying to suggest that evidence of a crime should not be gathered - and that the gathering of such evidence is itself a crime - thus excusing the criminal act.

Trump and his people got caught talking to foreign agents pure and simple. HOW they got caught is irrelevant.

What Susan Rice did was legal based on our rule of law. What Hitler did was illegal based on our rule of law.

>>snip<<

As Lake notes, nothing he—or anyone else—has uncovered lends credence to President Trump’s outlandish and unsupported claim that Obama ordered surveillance of him at Trump Tower prior to the election. Nor does the new story suggest any illegal behavior on Rice’s part. As with each step in the story, this one offers only a small sliver of information. Many experts seem to think the Bloomberg View story does not imply anything improper or unusual. Others withheld judgment, saying there’s simply not enough information to judge.

“In a situation where there’s incidental collection and it appears that they’re discussing U.S. incoming or current officials, it would not be unusual for a national security adviser to try to understand what it is this foreign government is trying to do to manipulate their position against the U.S.,” said Nada Bakos, a former CIA analyst and national-security commentator. “That’s how the game is played.”

ipn-the gathering of intelligence on foreigners is perfectly legal. Even the unmasking of Americans can be legal if it is to corroborate intelligence. However, leaking classified information to the press is illegal and that is the crime. Rice may not be the leak but her actions facilitated the leak. Did Obama know ? If you believe he did not know, you might be naive. If you believe anything Rice says, you may have another more serious problem. This needs to be thoroughly investigated as it is the only crime committed thus far. The democrats have been in Siberia chasing Ivan for the past eight months but the dude has been able to outrun them. So far, no evidence of any Trump/Ivan collusion except that Trump might have used Russian Salad dressing which it itself is a serious violation of protocol.
