Not only did Congress believe and other countries, so did the United Nations, which I believe to be a horrid entity, but which supported Bush, and the UN had had Hussein under sanction for years for WMD. So other than outright lying is the DNC relying on to substantiate their claim that there were no WMD? Syria and Iraq are neighbors. Covered trucks go from Iraq to Syria every day and have done so for decades. No one has ever said, I saw what was in those trucks and it was some WMD or components for making WMDs. I hope that you are not relying on someone's speculation about what was in trucks as being your "evidence" of the truth. I find it amusing that you are trying to make this the fault of Congress as if approving an attack sooner would have made any difference. As we KNOW now, it would not. The FACT is those trucks could not have been carrying any WMDs or components for making WMDs because Curveball lied and there weren't any!!!



I believe that Obama has basically said that he inherited an economic mess. I hardly think that his statement can be disputed. I think that it fine if you want to blame Obama for things that happened in his administration that lead to some problem. I think that it would follow that we can hold Bush accountable for things that happened in his administration that lead to problems. If you want to blame Congress for Bush's problems then blame Congress for Obama's problems. I mean, the chances of either party never making a mistake is zero. If Republicans are not responsible for anything bad then that means that they are not responsible for anything good either. So, if they aren't responsible anything at all, what he heck are they doing here?

I believe that the truth is a very powerful thing and that knowledge is power and I think that it is important to be rigorous as we seek the "truth". When someone says something, we need to find confirmation, otherwise, we become tools for propaganda.

I think that your reference to Nazi Germany is very appropriate. There, the Nazi propaganda machine tried to spread fear and hatred (fear of the Communists and hatred of the Jews). One of the things that they relied on was that people would not check the facts of what they were told. It was almost excusable then because people had limited access to information. Now, with the Internet, it is inexcusable for people not to check the voracity of what they are being told. However, that doesn't mean that people are checking the facts and that is what makes so much of the conservative talk shows work. They use inaccurate information to spread fear and hatred, just like the Nazi's did.

BTW, it wasn't the Jews who didn't know the truth and knowing the truth did not set them free. It was misinformation given to others that led to the Holocaust. When I see people being lied to and encouraged to hate and fear, I am not so concerned about them as I am about the people they are going to hurt because of this fear and hatred. I see Tea Party zealots spewing their venom and I don't see American patriots, I see Brown Shirts.

Yes, in the Senate, each amendment from a Republican had to have a Democrat co-sponsor. In the House, this was not the case. However, even though Republicans asked for amendments, it didn't meant that the Republican would vote for it.

I think that is interesting that a majority of Americans think that Obamacare should be repealed but, if you take the provisions of Obamacare individually, significant majorities of Americans are for them. Sounds like Americans want to throw the baby out with the bathwater.



I agree. I don't think that the "gun walking" programs (including Operation Wide Receiver under Bush) were ever a good idea. It was poorly handled under both administrations. However, Holder seems to be in the thick of too many of these ill conceived things and I think that he has become too much of a distraction to be able to serve his President and his country effectively. I wouldn't mind if he were replaced. The problem is, the Senate would have to confirm any nomination and, given their record, we could end up not having an Attorney General for the rest of Obama's administration. I believe that would be worse than leaving Holder in office. Maybe if Obama said that Holder would remain until his successor is confirmed by the Senate...?



I think that this is one of those made up scandals. It is always easy to second guess when one has the benefit of 20/20 hindsight. I watched Hillary testify when she said and I think that you are missing her point. The questioning was about why the administration was saying that the attack was caused by the video when it was not. Hillary said, that, at this point, it doesn't matter if the attack was caused by the video or not and that our job is to find out how we can prevent something like this in the future. I agree that it doesn't matter if the attack was related to the video or not. If you think that matter, please explain why (if you don't mind).



I'm not sure where the impeachable offense is, however, I'm pretty sure that if the Republicans in the House can make one up, they will.

And let me just add about the WMD, regardless if you believe they were there OR NOT, the WMD were Saddam Hussein himself! He was known for SEVERE violations of human rights, torture, mass murder, assassinations, chemical warfare, rape, forced disappearances, etc. HE WAS A WMD and I for one am glad that Bush made the decision to go in and take him out! He deserved to DIE for what he did to other human beings. NO ONE should have to live under a totalitarian dictatorship.
