Who is responsible for the fact that this 16 year old had no inkling as to "gun safety", no exposure to programs such as Eddie Eagle.

Even when literature and instructors are provide free of charge, schools will not offer this proven life saving training to our nations youth.

If you want to blame someone for these tragic accidents, start with those who deny our youth the basic safety training that could prevent

these accidents in the first place. A drop of prevention is worth many units of blood.

A gun nut should not be so careless with a loaded gun. Too many stupid people are handling guns now.

Then the cop should be prosecuted for murder. What about all the people shot in Chicago every weekend? You know the place with the toughest gun laws in the country. You make a huge deal about a very small percentage of events and choose to ignore a plague of events every weekend. If you could get the stats on the number of police stops nationwide vs. the number of stops where a person was shot unwarrantedly by a cop the number would be miniscule. Much like your I.Q..

Where do all those guns in Chicago come from? Gun nuts who can't keep control of their weapons.

There are unintended consequences of these guns everywhere policies. They most likely will not affect any of you. But the fear of guns is why cops shoot so many unarmed people. They think everyone is armed. They want to go home safe.

Moldy, this thread is about the promotion of "gun safety", the progress made thus far, and what more should be done.

As usual, when you don't have a leg to stand on, you attempt to change the subject.

However in response to your attempt to muddy the water: The problem is not that the police think that everyone is armed.

If you are a law enforcement officer, and you want to live long enough to retire, there are some basic concepts you need to recognize.

1. Every time you come into contact with a member of the public, you must be prepared to confront mortal danger,

you must recognize that each one could potentially be a violent criminal/terrorist.

2. Every suspected criminal/terrorist must also be assumed to be armed and dangerous, until known otherwise.

Ignore those realities, and your life expectancy quickly diminishes.

A major problem, the faulty (out-dated?) mindset of some, that only a criminal would be armed.

Mix this faulty mindset with a good dose of stress, add some inherent fear, toss in a little extra noise and confusion....

Alright moldy, I'll bite, just how many innocent people did cops kill in 2016? Do you have numbers or only a fantasy?

At least 64 innocent cops have been shot to death by armed criminals so far in 2016.

At least 2 innocent cops have had their lives saved by lawfully armed citizens in 2016.

Police killed at least 102 unarmed black people in 2015, nearly twice each week. (See which police departments were responsible for these deaths)
Nearly 1 in 3 black people killed by police in 2015 were identified as unarmed, though the actual number is likely higher due to underreporting
37% of unarmed people killed by police were black in 2015 despite black people being only 13% of the U.S. population
Unarmed black people were killed at 5x the rate of unarmed whites in 2015
Only 10 of the 102 cases in 2015 where an unarmed black person was killed by police resulted in officer(s) being charged with a crime, and only 2 of these deaths (Matthew Ajibade and Eric Harris) resulted in convictions of officers involved. Only 1 of 2 officers convicted for their involvement in Matthew Ajibade's death received jail time. He was sentenced to 1 year in jail and allowed to serve this time exclusively on weekends. Deputy Bates, who killed Eric Harris, will be sentenced May 31.

All of which has absolutely no bearing on the subject of this thread, which is "gun safety" in the context of reducing gun accidents.

If someone else had posted that I would have thought it a joke. From you it's either gross ignorance or stupidity.

Care to bet on who's killing who in Chicago? Look up the statistics for that. Bet it is just like New York. The rats eating the rats. Better to be a good citizen to all & be armed to defend. God made all men & Sam Colt made them equal. We were taught young about weapons. Educated to shoot & hunt. But common sense is not taught any more. Stupid is just that.

As usual, your facts are cherry-picked. Now for the rest of the story...........

http://www.dailywire.com/news/7264/5-statistics-you-need-know-about-cops-killing-aaron-bandler

49% of the people killed were white. 26% were black. There were more blacks killed by black officers than by white officers.
