The Democrats are going nuts about Hillary winning the popular vote and Trump winning the Electoral College. They now want to eliminate the Electoral College because Gore lost to Bush and now Hillary lost to Trump.
The Electoral College was initiated by our forefathers for this very reason. These old guys were very intelligent and thought through the Electoral College and National voting consequences very carefully. They knew the citizens who lived outside the major cities and towns would not have a voice unless the Electoral College was instituted.
Democrats now hate the Electoral College. If they can eliminate the Electoral College they know they can "rule" the whole country by controlling the populations of major cities. The Democrats can accomplish their "Progressive Socialist" goals if they can control the votes of inner-city blacks, Muslims, Hispanics, and any other new refugees or immigrants whom depend upon the government dole. The only difference for most inner city people today from 1861 is the new slave owner is now the Democratic Party.
Most of the data below reflects only New York. You can only imagine what the numbers would be if you included the West Coast.

There are 3,141 counties in the United States
Trump won 3,084 of them. (98%)
Clinton won 57. (1.8%)
There are 62 counties in New York State.
Trump won 46 of them. (75%)
Clinton won 16. (25%)
Clinton won the popular vote by approx. 1.5 million votes.
In the 5 counties that encompass NYC, (Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Richmond & Queens) Clinton received well over 2 million more votes than Trump. (Clinton only won 4 of these counties, Trump won Richmond)
Therefore these 5 counties alone, more than accounted for Clinton winning the popular vote of the entire country.
These 5 counties comprise 319 square miles. (Even less considering Trump won Richmond County.)
The United States is comprised of 3, 797,000 square miles.
When you have a country that encompasses almost 4 million square miles of territory, it would be ludicrous to even suggest that the vote of those that encompass a mere 319 square miles should dictate the outcome of a national election.

Charles-you nailed it !! This is exactly the reason for the EC . Without it NY and CA could control all national elections. The people who designed our form of government were much smarter than the self serving , money squandering idiots we have representing us. Since the blue States combined have a greater population than the red States, it is logical that a democrat should win the popular vote in all national elections. Since the EC makes sense you can count on the democrats opposing it. I can't wait to see Chuck Schumer's face when McConnell invokes the Nuclear Option to get Trump's agenda passed. There will be lamentations by most of the Lame Street Media. Good Luck America !!!
