Since retiring to the country, I periodically wear striped denim overall/coveralls on a regular basis. They are quite comfortable and practical for meandering about the area.

Remember when you had to get up, and walk across the room to change the TV channel?

My dad had a remote, even back then - my brother and me.

Same thing with the lawn mower. We had one of those push mowers that were powered by moving the wheels. We hated it. We asked my Dad about getting a gas powered mower. He said he already had two of them - again, my brother and me.

Yep, those were the days...

Well.....I can only guess that you are able to bathe a little more reglar now. What with all this indoor plummin, and stuff.

Oh yeah! I forgot all about the indoor plumbing. It would be freezing out in the outhouse. Then we got an indoor toilet. No more stinky hole in the ground. No more frozen feet in the middle of the night. Bliss....

Remember when you finally got a gas mower, and had to mow the edges in one direction because the grass catcher stuck out the side?

Compared to that awful push mower, the gas mower was a breeze.

My Granny told me many stories about those times. She passed in 2006 at the age of 93.
Those were hard times, and the strong survived!
Granny could create a meal out of two sticks, and a dab of bacon grease!
I have to say that she made my childhood wonderful, and taught me a lot along the way!

I remember coal oil cooking and heating stoves. Oil burning lanterns and lighting for the house, and a hand pump on the kitchen sink. Bathing in a tub outside beside the well hand pump. The outhouse was 30 yards from the back door and it less than 5 minutes to do your business because of the cold or the odor or both. Look what we have now, an entitlement generation of gimmedats, who would have thunkit?
