At this time Rush was blaming the people for loosing their homes to buying houses they could not afford. Not the fact that most people lost their homes from unemployment, underemployment or medical bills, not to mention the banking games that sucked in the young with ridiculous loans. To prove my point find the chart of income inequality for the last 20 years in America, The problem is in the American system not the American people.

From the little I listen to Limbaugh I suspect you either don't listen much or take some of what he says out of context. I do not enjoy Limbaugh, find him too self important, but cannot fairly say I heard anything approaching what you accuse him of. When I've heard specific charges regarding this kind of thing I've done some follow up and every time learned that the charges were selective and out of context. Be that as it may, Limbaugh is a private citizen and whatever views he has are no more outlandish than many we hear from other commentors or celebrities.

The meme that in the past corporations were some kind of social charities and not profit making organizations is, at best, misleading in an attempt to undermine capitalism. Corporations in my entire lifetime were profit making organizations - and I'm in my 7th decade. I'm still waiting to hear what corporation ever had a purpose other than profit.

As to the corporations using foreign labor, one needs to look at the total picture. The belief that it is all based on wages is a staggering oversimplification. The regulations and restrictions placed on businesses, the bureaucratic animosity they face all add significantly to their costs. Finally, the taxing systems where off shore profits are not taxed provides significant incentive to not only produce offshore, but to invest profits earned there too.

What is wrong with the American system is the ever expanding government - mainly at the federal level - that undermines those characteristics that provide economic growth - and that is why the middle class suffers. The establishment politicians use resources from the middle class in order to buy the votes of the underclass while maintaining their own power and prestige. There is a reason why the highest per capita incomes are in those areas in and around Washington DC.

The final irony is that the only political movement not part of that cabal of professional politicians and bureaucrats is the Tea Party folks - and that is why the powers that be are so virulent in the attacks on them -

Dave how's this for understanding content..... . Rush: Most Poor People Don't Own Dishwashers Because "Chicken McNuggets Don't Come With Dishes Now if I really choose to prove my point I could post 1000"s of snotty little attacks on the poor and even the lazy unemployed... I personally do not think too much of Rush either or anyone for that matter that feel they are better than others... Dave I think that part of the problem is the fact your in your 70s and most likely retired .... I am in my 50s and still providing for a family... 15 years ago things seemed much easier.... Thank god my business has stayed busy enough to see us through this mess... Back some time ago there was a small town with the major form of employment being a factory that produced writing pads... The owners of that firm ran at a small loss to keep the people of the town alive... Some smart business lawyer knew what was going on and bought out the business owner, Sold the assets to China, shut down the factory killing the town, I believe its called a hostile takeover... very capitalistic move.... We ran this smart capitalistic guy for president... I think what Romney did was very un American... We are at a point of Corporate profits over people.... I don't think that's what America is all about..... there has to be limits in a capitalistic society or we will return to the Monopolies', robber barons and sweat shops of the 1920s or will continue with high unemployment and hunger, Dave you were fortunate enough to spend the majority of your working years in the best of times for the American workers prosperity.... the game has changed ... we have screwed the American dream.

I am not retired, I work a full time job. The factory you referred to - running at a loss - could not continue to operate at a loss - and capitalism involves creative destruction. The question you should ask is why the Chinese can operate at a profit where Americans can't. If you think it is only the wage of labor you are probably wrong. With today's automation, the product you refer to would have a very low labor content, so there are other forces at work.

What Romney did at Bain Capital is exactly what is needed to keep an economy vibrant - and the idea that profit making is bad is a far more destructive idea than anything Romney did. By the way, most of the folks who did what Romney did are Obama supporters - including many of the partners at Bain. Obama's last vacation at Martha's Vineyard was at the estate of his friendly Chicago billionaire whose fortune was made in exactly the same way.

I was fortunate to be born in America - but I was born in poverty in America and was able to escape that poverty based on opportunity and being prepared for those opportunities.

No one I am aware of suggests we should have no constraints on capitalists - but many seem to think we should not have captialists. Others think we should only have capitalists that are our cronies.

What specifically do you recommend we do?

2013 (the Golden Year) one of the greatest years in history. Happy New Year 2014.

Thank God for Capitalism and Freedom. World Poverty is at an all-time low. “Global inequality is narrowing.” Battle deaths from Wars are at an all-time low. Deaths from Extreme weather are at an all-time low. Deaths from AIDs in Africa from the peak at an all-time low . Democide by governments killing their own people (typically 10 times the number killed in wars) at an all-time low. Global Warming hasn’t occurred for 15 years and the irony of Global Warming scientists today frozen in the Antarctic Ice that Al Gore claimed would be melted by now. Among the 177 countries ranked in the January 2013 Index of Economic Freedom improved for 91 countries.

People are learning about the enormous benefits of true capitalism, and of the anti-capitalists, the imposters that falsely claim the name of capitalism. People are learning of the false and fabricated stories about so-called Robber Barons. America still has the richest poor people in the world proving that as the rich get richer --- the poor get richer. God Bless America.

The point of my corporate killer story was the factory owner chose to run at a loss to feed the town... He could have sold out also for more profit but chose to take care of his people.. the ones that helped to make him wealthy.... Yes it was a easy kill for Romney and Bain... they profited and the town died... Not my way of doing business, not the leader I want for my country... Profits over people plain and simple. The only thing I despise more is using American soldiers for corporate profits... the worst part of free market capitalism.

Rush on hunger......You know, one of the benefits of school being out, in addition to your kids losing weight because they're starving to death out there because there's no school meal being provided, one of the benefits of school being out, college campi being vacant this time of year, is that our audience levels go up. I think, you know what we're going to do here, we're going to start a feature on this program: "Where to find food." For young demographics, where to find food. Now that school is out, where to find food. We can have a daily feature on this. And this will take us all the way through the summer. Where to find food. And, of course, the first will be: 'Try your house.' It's a thing called the refrigerator. You probably already know about it. Try looking there. There are also things in what's called the kitchen of your house called cupboards. And in those cupboards, most likely you're going to find Ding-Dongs, Twinkies, Lays ridgy potato chips, all kinds of dips and maybe a can of corn that you don't want, but it will be there. If that doesn't work, try a Happy Meal at McDonald's. You know where McDonald's is. There's the Dollar Menu at McDonald's and if they don't have Chicken McNuggets, dial 911 and ask for Obama.

There's another place if none of these options work to find food; there's always the neighborhood dumpster. Now, you might find competition with homeless people there, but there are videos that have been produced to show you how to healthfully dine and how to dumpster dive and survive until school kicks back up in August. Can you imagine the benefit we would provide people?"
