We didn't invent slavery. Slavery has been responsible for great works of art, culture and architecture since civilization began. The pyramids, the Acropolis, temples and cities were all built using slave labor. Slaves were the natural result of loosing on the battlefields of human history. We have evolved beyond that now. I do not see this going anywhere. We have to accept the realities of the times. We should also realize that elementary and middle school history did not tell much of real history. So we all should educate ourselves beyond the kids version of world history. Each country or group has tried to paint themselves in the best light, while denigrating the other side.

I do not think we need to accept the realities of the times. Political correctness is a reality of our times and I flat out reject it. Removing Washington as a symbol of our country is wrong no matter how many slaves he owned. There will always be things in history that are not pretty or neat.
