Where DO you get your so-called "facts", salt? Did you forget that I know things you do not know?

You, or your attitude, offends me because it is typically American: These "facts" are my received wisdom, and because this is what I have been taught and because I am an American, that makes them true.

It is just that sort of self-righteousness and pretentiousness that I find abhorrent in (most) Americans. (See below):

Self-righteousness:

confident of one's own righteousness, especially when smugly moralistic and intolerant of the opinions and behavior of others.

Pretentiousness:
1.
characterized by assumption of dignity or importance, especially when exaggerated or undeserved:
a pretentious, self-important waiter.
2.
making an exaggerated outward show; ostentatious.
3.
full of pretense or pretension; having no factual basis; false.

Perhaps this self-righteousness and pretentiousness is an attempt to hide much deeper feelings of inferiority. What do you think?

I replied to him a short while ago. Hope you get to read it. It will absolutely be my last response to salt's idiocy, which is based on his feeling that ALL other peoples of the world are inferior to Americans. Yuck!!!!

Carol, Do you really believe that this Russian monster is a good guy? My sources of information are the NY Times, The Washington Post, CNN and major network news. I believe them a hell of a lot more than I believe the controlled press of mother Russia! My family came to this country from Russia in 1911. They left Russia because of the intense anti- Semitism of the Czar which manifested itself in pogroms and all kinds of anti- Jewish laws. I studied history in college. In fact I majored in it. Some of the courses relevant to my expertise or lack of same came from History of Civilization 1 and 2, History of Russia 1 and 2, US history 2, social and political philosophy,and political science 1. Obviously I am not an expert in Russian history, but at least I have a working knowledge of the subject.
What the hell do you know that I don't?

He's very typical of an America which has a stereotypical view of "Russia" and Russians. We sometimes forget that we were allies in WWII.

Americans simply don't pay attention or think too much for themselves. Maybe all peoples of the world are guilty of that.

My friends in Russia and my friends here who have married Russian people and done business over there have a much different attitude about it.

Too many judge Russia forever based upon Lenin and Stalin. I certainly hope they don't judge the American people on the likes of Obama and Bush. I could name a few others.

Salt needs to compare the US actions over the past 50 years compared to those of Russia.

You know that saying about prophets: "A prophet is without honor in his own family and in his own country." That is because they speak what their family and their country do not want to hear.

Anyway, what I find comforting is what God said to Jeremiah: "I ordained you a prophet to the nations". Plural. All peoples of the world are God's peoples.
