The $400 million came an Iranian account that was frozen, along with a lot of other assets, including money, when Iran stormed our embassy in Tehran and held our diplomats hostage for 440 odd days. I don't see the point of bringing Congress into this discussion. Or, am I missing something?

The bigger issue is we have a president who is going around and doing whatever he wants to do regardless of the law, common sense and decency. He, and everyone associated with his illegal administration, including, especially, Hillary Clinton, should be arrested, or somehow or another, arrested in order to prevent future crimes, mistakes, and oversights.

I think Charles Kraultheimer got it right. Obama just got away with giving a $400 Million donation to Hezbollah, Hamas, and terrorists in Iraq.


On Wednesday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “Special Report,” columnist Charles Krauthammer said that the payment of $400 million to Iran as four Americans were released from the country back in January will go “straight to” terrorists, and wasn’t only a “quid pro quo.” It was also “money laundering.”

Krauthammer said, “It was illegal. It isn’t only the optics. It isn’t only that they are just looking ridiculous in denying that it was a quid pro quo. Obviously, it wasn’t a coincidence. The reason that it was objected to by Justice, there is a statute that prohibits us from engaging in Iran dealing with dollars. So, they had to print the money here, ship it over to Switzerland, turn it into Swiss francs and euros and ship it over to Iran. If a private company had done this, this is called money laundering. The CEO would be in jail right now.”

He added, “The reason it was concealed is because it’s illegal. That’s why Congress wasn’t notified, because it’s scandalous for the administration to explicitly defy a law that says you can’t deal in American currency. And the second thing is, it isn’t only that it encourages terrorism in the future, it’s that the money is in cash. Why in cash? Because that you can’t trace it. The Obama administration strongly denied paying any ransom to Iran, Brennan says, but according to details first reported by the Wall Street Journal, currency worth $400 million was flown into Tehran on a cargo plane around the same time that the Americans were released.

The plane was loaded with cash: Euros, Swiss Francs and other currencies, since any transaction with Iran in dollars is illegal under United States law.

Senior U.S. officials, Brennan reports, claimed the timing was coincidental: President Obama had planned to pay Tehran nearly 2 billion dollars to settle an outstanding legal dispute from before the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

"With the nuclear deal done, prisoners released, the time was right to resolve this dispute as well," Obama said.

But the administration never consulted congress, according to Republican Congressman Ed Royce, who accused the White House of paying ransom to a state sponsor of terrorism, and as details of the cash became public Tuesday, there were instant reverberations on the campaign trail.

"The administration airlifted $400 million in cash to Iran," Republican Vice Presidential Nominee Mike Pence said. "You know we cannot have four more years accommodating and apologizing to our enemies or abandoning our friends."<snip>...
