I don't know if you saw the video with Steven Segal or not, but he put out about 7 or 8 video's advocating that
1) the US and its allies went to the former Soviet Union under Gorbachev and made the Nuclear Proliferation Treaty of 1982 and the Warsaw Pact of 1982 in which WE the US and Russia agreed to never use Nuclear Weapons against each other, and to put icing on the cake, we had to consent control of our Military to the Russians (ya, true like it or not - is a big reason our military today has a giant hardon for Russia) and in return we got control of their military. Quasi side-door kind of thing, we don't control each other directly.
2) we need to be best friends with Russia and Putin right now. Segal posed the question, "What if Texas seceded from the Union, and Russia came over here messing in our affairs, telling us what we should to with Texas..?? Its the same thing that is happening with the Ukraine, Ukraine is a former Russian state and we need to stay the hell out of their affairs.." (unquote).......

The history I've read about Reagan and Gorbachev's nuclear talks points out that Gorbachev was agreeable to a mutual ban on nuclear weapons altogether. It was Reagan's insistence on continuing his "Star Wars" missile defense system which caused Russia to back out of the ban. We can thank Reagan for the nuclear threat the world faces today.
