You do realize the odds are stacked against you don't you? I truly do hope it doesn't come to pass, but statistically you will be a victim of a violent crime. You will wish you had a way to protect you, because the police are to far away to help you. You may not own, nor felt the need, but that does not mean that others should not exercise their God given right. I thought you lefty do we're all for people's rights and equality. Guess that's only when it fits your agenda.
One thing people should realize is that the police are under no obligation to come to any individual's aid. They have an obligation to protect and serve in general, but they are not obligated to come to any individual's aid. If they are tied down somewhere, they will not come. The law is such that each person is responsible for his or her own self defense. The police are only obligated to arrest an attacker after the fact. I think a lot of people do not realize that. A lot of liberals have argued that a person should have NO right to self defense whatsoever, that if they are attacked, they are not to fight back. But that is not traditionally the way the law is set up. If they were to have their way there would be mayhem. People would be attacked mercilessly over and over and they would overwhelm the police in their attempt to protect.
