As I remember it I got my draft notice on my 19th birthday so at 17 he lied.

There was a 17 year old, almost 18, or so he professed, in my Boot Camp Platoon who had his parent sign for him but he did not go to Korea with others that did.

No one was in the military at 17 unless they lied during enlistment, and even then there were checks.
